  • Value of Traveler Plus

radiobb was wondering how one can get the most out of Bluegreen's Traveler Plus. I also am interested. BocaBum stated that Select Connections was a big plus for him.

What other facets of Traveler Plus have people found especially useful and what tricks can be used to maximize benefits?

    Thank you. Charles

As a brand new BGVC owner - I used my first BG/Travelers Plus benefit - I am going to a wedding and the rooms are $129 a night - using the "entertainment" part of Travelers Plus, I am getting my room for $69/night.

That savings alone pays for 2.5 yrs of TP....

      * I haven't used select connections yet, but hope to someday.
      * I haven't found good value to the travel side of their service, i.e. discounts on air fare or car rental. Once in a while something works, but as a rule, priceline or hot wire provides more options and better prices.
      * I have used the discounts for some food or entertainment discounts, however, if you can use restaurant.com, the price is much cheaper.

I guess I may break even or maybe a small loss most years, but if I do use select connection, then I will find more value in the service.

Maybe I will learn other ways to use it as more people post.

I use Select Connections all the time. The availability is very good. Much better than I expected.

The two features I like best from TP are Select Connections and Hot Weeks. If you are in a position to travel on short notice, there is no better use of 3000 points than the Hot Weeks. When I book hotels, rental cars, or airfare I usually check the TP website in addition to the usuals (Travelocity, Priceline, Orbitz, etc), but I have booked with them only once.

The coupon books are pretty popular. That surprised me. I wouldn't ignore those coupons. If you are travelling, you may get some great deals.

By coupon books, are you speaking of the cash smart items like hotels, dining and leisure, etc?

I have not found any place where the entertainment logo on the traveler plus card does any good. I think using the logo must be limited to the entertainment card from the entertainment book.

                coupon books

I just got access to TP a few months back. Last month I found out that I did not have full access to it by reading some older posts. BG fixed that issue a few weeks back, and today I received my TP card with a coupon book. Is this all of the introductory TP stuff (one keychain tag card, one credit sized card, and one coupon book) that they send to new members? The coupon booklet is nice. I have bought merchandise at 3 of the locations recently. I figured it would have saved me about $25 total had I used these coupons. Does TP send you a new booklet every so often?
There are also coupons on the TP Website. Are these the coupons to which you were referring, Jim?

If that is the coupon book, I think we have received it a couple times. I guess we have never used it. If I remember right, there were only a few things that we would have used, but either distance or value caused us not to use them.

I do believe other areas may have a very different value for the book. For some reason, there is little listed in the Minneapolis area.

                    travelers plus hot weeks

We have used the hot week option and found it was a great deal..we used it for a .... 3000pts week in TN ...it worked worked out well for us............coupons you print out have not yet proven to be beneficial.....but we will keep looking......car rentals and flights have also not be an advantage...other sources be been a better $$$ option...........
Travelers plus .....is beneficial...but like everything there is a learning curve of what works for each of us

We have enjoyed the use of Select Connections. For wine country, Vino Bello can't be beat.

I was able to use my traveler plus connection to get a better discount on a rental car. I went on the BG website and found my best deal, then I called the TP number, talked to a gal who found the prices offered and was able to input some code which got me an even better deal. I got a compact for a week at about $100 less than I found in online. Guess the membership was paid with that savings.

Remember, Bluegreen will be offering online reservations capabilities to Select Connections soon. That will make it much easier to find availability and use it.

In addition, Bluegreen will be adding additional partners to Select Connections. Can't wait to see what's coming.

Any time frame for the roll-out?

                              Additional partners?

                              Boca,

You say "Bluegreen will be adding additional partners to Select Connections".

Does this mean more Shell Resorts? Or more resort groups?

                              Either way, fun
