I believe that you would need to purchase from Bluegreen or an authorized source in order to be able to get travelers plus. I don't think there is a way to get it without. I understand that if a person lets the membership laps, they can pay a fee that will allow them to reinstate, but I don't beleive that can be done to get a new membership.Don

Well we broke down and went to the owner update. I politely declined to attend, but they said that this was just an information session to "help me get the most out of my membership and wasn't at all a sales presentation." Sounded reasonable to me.
Apparently, the best way to get the most out my membership is (brace yourself) to buy more points. I again explained that I was not going to purchase anything more at this time--despite the "special deal that they really shouldn't be giving me."
However, one statement that they made intrigued me. I have a "resale" membership, so no VIP membership et cetera.
The sales guy (and his manager) told me that if I bought anything from them, all of my points could be used for the RCI nightly exchange and select connections. Is that true? They told me that there is no distinction in the online account and there isn't that I can see, but I wonder if it looks different from their side.
If so, is this also true of a purchase from an authorized reseller? I still wouldn't get VIP, I understand that, but if I could get select connections, that would be worth buying a small amount of points just to do this.

If you are going to go that route talk to BoccaBum. He can get you "Authorized" points that will get you select connections for less then buying through the resort. You can then use ALL of your points towards RCI nightly stays, hotweeks, etc. I purchased my first 7,000 from him and the rest on eBay.

Lookie, when you buy authorized points, you do get the ability to use RCI nightly, traveler plus and select connections. If you bought enough authorized points to get to the minimum of bronze level, then you would have Premier status.
As gandalf said, Boca can not only sell you points to get you what you hope to accomplish, but he can also provide a lot of answers or clarifications.Don

Traveler's Plus
One of our favorite parts of Traveler's Plus is the Bonus Time. We live in Florida and are within several hours of many Blue Green Resorts. We have been able to book last minute rooms for the weekend in Orlando, Marathon, Miami, South Carolina, etc. It is a much better deal than using a lot of our points - as many of these resorts are high during peak season.
