I just completed a short vacation at Williamsburg, VA. Williamsburg, in my opinion is one of the nicest places in the United States to vacation, there is so much there and around there to do. I only live a few miles away, but because it is so close, I don’t go there very often. When I do find the time to go I usually travel on the old Williamsburg road or now called the John Tyler Memorial Hi-way. I thought the route was beautiful in 1974 and still do. This time I noticed that the State had built a bike trail running alongside the Hi-way, it must be over 30 miles long and very well done.
Parkside is a Blue Green managed resort that is approximately 2 years old. The BG associate told me at check- in that 50 % of the rooms there were being allocated to the BGVC. This is really a nice place to stay. I stayed in a 1 Bedroom Superior which was extremely nice. The accommodation had a full kitchen, dining area and two full bathrooms. The living room was small but adequate with a balcony overlooking the Williamsburg Country Club. The BG associate told me that were affiliated with both the Williamsburg Country Club and the Kings Mill Golf course and could get rounds at either for around $20.00. It appeared that all of the units were lock-out units, so getting a 2 bedrooms via lockout is a possibility.
Early last year I stayed at the Patrick Henry Village, also in Williamsburg and a BG owned resort. It is quite a nice place to stay, too. The two resorts share many of the activities. Patrick Henry offers a free continental breakfast, Monday through Friday. Between the two resorts all of the amenities that you expect at Blue Green are offered. I would certainly recommend either and plan to return in the future.
