Max Occupancy question

I'm relatively new to BG and had a couple questions about the max occupancy.

Is the max occupancy about the sleeping arrangements, or is it about something else? I just stayed at Hershey last month where the max occupancy was 8 (1 king, 1 sofa bed, 2 doubles), while the max occupancy at the presidential suite at the Fountains is only 6 (2 kings, 2 doubles).

I am going to The Fountains later this year. Our group consists of 4 adults and 4 children (basically my wife and I and our 4 kids, plus my parents). We're technically over the max for the presidential suite, but we would easily fit because our kids are small. Of the 4 kids, the oldest is 6 years old. The four kids could easily fit on the two double beds, with the adults on the two kings.

Even so, I don't want to break any rule or get in trouble. If it's a big, that's fine; I'll just go with two 2-bedroom deluxes or something, and I may anyway. I'm just curious if it is a big deal.

EDIT: After I posted this, I saw another thread asking about max occupancy. It sounds like it may not be a big deal, but there's a slight risk they could give you the boot. But if there are any other thoughts beyond what was in that thread, I would love to hear it.

Personally, I find it really annoying that the Presidentials at the Fountains only sleep six when, as you say, they could easily sleep eight. I don't think the occupancy rules are "a big deal", in the sense that I don't get wound up any over those who break them, but every reservation has a reminder of your occupancy limits along with a warning not to ignore them, so I'm thinking BG corporate cares. At any rate, we honor the the max occupancy rule.

On the upside (or downside), with a Fountains Presidential you get a view of the pool -- or of International Drive. Neither of which excite me (although as road views go, it's probably not that bad - the building is well above the road and looks to be a pretty resort across the way). So we're probably happier in the buildings with views of Lake Eve (Bldgs 3, 4 or 5) anyhow.

Many times the occupancy limits are not set by resort, but by local codes/rules. I would be real hesitant to have more than the limit because the resort has the right to evict you.

I found it odd that the max occupancy for my trip to Club 36 in Las Vegas was 6 even though I had a two room unit with two couches to serve as pullouts.

On their own, each unit would sleep four people.

Many times the municipality of where the unit is located have person per square footage rules. The unit may have 2 bedrooms but the square footage may be small and therefore, even if the unit could sleep 8 (2 in each bedroom and 2 each on the 2 sofa sleepers) the square footage of the unit is such that the municipality only allows 6 bodies.

We have a similiar code in S Yarmouth, Massachusetts about kitchens. Only 2 bedroom units can have kitchens and those are partial kitchens (no oven), anything smaller usually only has a microwave and a coffee maker....crazy, but the governing municipality code must be followed.

Also it depends on the bed.

President unit usually has less sofabed, so it can feel more up class. A 2 BD with 2 Queen size Sofa bed can easily sleep 8 people. A 2 BD with no sofa bed will only sleep by the size of real bed.

The assumption is if you take President unit, you are looking to sleep in higher end and thus only real bed not sofa bed.

Thus usually they have 3 or 4 Bedroom president unit.
