  • "Saved Points" that should not be - how to correct this problem

Posting this here as an example of what to do if Annual Points end up back in your account as Saved Points.
    Explaination below by BoccaBum99

    Thanks Jim!!!

    Here is the issue:

Let's say you have a Jan 1 anniversary date. You just received 10000 points on Jan 1, 2011 and those are the only points you have in your account.

You decide you want to book a Mountain Run reservation for Jan 10-17, 2012. It takes 8000 points. It's red season so you can use saved points.

In order to book that reservation, 8000 of your 10000 points need to be saved until the next use year. You proceed to save the points and Bluegreen books the reservation.

At a later date, say next week, you decide to cancel the reservation. The 8000 points are returned to your account as saved points which expire on Jan 1, 2013.

If nothing is done, then you would NOT be able to book a summer reservation at The Fountains for 8000 points because they would be saved points. You would first have to ask Bluegreen owner services to unsave the 8000 points. This is a non-standard transaction, so not many customer service reps on the phone know that points can be unsaved. In fact, most of them will say that they cannot be unsaved.

If, on the other hand, you book the same Mountain Run reservation online, the points will be saved into the 2012 use year and the reservation will be booked. If you then cancel it online, the points will be returned as regular annual points. No need to contact Bluegreen to restore the points.

If you book online and call to cancel, the points will not automatically be restored to annual.

    I hope this helps.

I have a follow up question...

In order to book that reservation, 8000 of your 10000 points need to be saved until the next use year. You proceed to save the points and Bluegreen books the reservation.

Do you actually have to ask to have your points saved or is this done automatically online when u make the Jan 2012 reservation?

I have about 22K in saved points that expire July 31. I guess I don't get out enough.

Any suggestions for saving/preserving a boatload of points like that?

I was able to get a 3 bedroom townhome at Christmas Mountain Village in July. That burns up 18,000 points. I think with a 3 bedroom for the two of us, I may be able to hide from my wife for the whole week

I think you should just invite all of us to join you - seems as if there is room!

It is kind of like Disney Land of the North
                  Wisconsin Dells.

Okay, it is nothing like Disney land.
