My mother has been a happy owner of 7000 annual points (Laurel Crest) since 2003. She is planning to change the deed later this year to be in her name and mine (as it is going to me whenever she passes on). In addition, I have just purchased 8000 more annual points (Shore Crest II) and have paid for them, but need to give them the deed information in the next two days. (I am thrilled to have gotten them on ebay for a total of $251 including all title changes, closing, etc. and also including 8000 unused points for 2010, the 2011 points, and the 2011 maintenance already paid!!!!) I purchased them through The Timeshare Group Inc. So far, so good...
My mom spoke with BG today and they said to close on the deal and then contact them after it is completed, pay another $250 deed change fee (which is no problem) and they will add me as co-owner and combine the points.
Here are my questions for Boca or anyone who has had this type of experience:
-What would you do to best maximize your BG experience if you were in my place?
-Will the combination qualify us for bronze status?
-Is there a way to avoid any difficulty with what I've read about difficulties being in 'red' in the system and having troubles?
-Is there a way, through paperwork or some deal-making, to combine the maintenance fee structure to save money in the long-term?
-I plan to put the deed of the new resale purchase in our names jointly, the way that she is going to re-do the title, but is there anything else that I should do to make things better later?
Also, my mom is under the impression that she has to attend the sales presentation whenever we go anywhere. Sadly, the 9:00 AM presentation at La Cabana lasted until 1:30 PM, and we knew better than to ask any questions... I told her that we could surely skip it, but she seemed unsure. I don't think it's about getting the gift... I would have paid for an $80 dinner happily to get out of that 4.5 hour time killer in Aruba!!!
Thank you so much for taking the time to read that and advise me. I want to make the right moves now and even spend more money now to make things better for the rest of my life. I'm 35, so I have a lot of years of BG vacations ahead of me... I want the most of them!
Thanks!!!!!!
