So hotweeks are only on RCI resorts? I can't get hotweeks on BG resorts only bonus time?

You can get BG resorts as hotweeks, but it is not consistent. You would have to keep checking to see if something shows up. You never really know which resort will show up or when.

The resorts that seem to be consistently available on hotweeks appear to be mostly dumps.

I think hotweeks are the leftover weeks that RCI was not able to rent out or exchange.

If you buy from BG directly, you will be in Trust Fund E. Trust Fund E is better if you have over 11,037 annual points. The only way to get into the other Trust Funds is to buy resale. What you need is an Estoppel letter from BG which will give you the information you would need to determine the Trust Fund. However, there are some "gotchas" in the other Trust Funds. In some maintenance fees are passed on directly to you. So if your points are based at that resort, and their MF go sky high, then you get a big raise. On the other hand, if they keep them low, then yours doesn't go up as much. In E, increases are spread over all owners in E. Also, there are some Trust Funds (I don't know which) in which Special Assessments (if any) are paid directly by the points owner while in E they are spread over all E owners.

Now you are saying "You lost me with Estoppel." And that's why so many of us send people to Jim. He will ask you what do you want now and what do you want in the future. He will ask you if you can afford it. He will ask you if there is a possibility of getting in a financial jam in which you can't pay MF. He will ask you if you want authorized or non-authorized points. And he will have answers for your questions. Jim is honest and easy to work with.

By the way, if you join the Bluegreen Yahoo group, they have a calculator which allows you to determine the MF in the various Trust Funds (that are equalized) for whatever number of points you are curious about.

That is correct but in places like Orlando or Williamsburg or Branson or even Vegas, nice resorts can be on the list.

RCI has reviews, and you can join TUG (I think it's about $15/year) and get reviews there, and of course there are reviews here at TS4Ms as well (no charge for those ). Check the dates, though, since some places haven't been reviewed in years and have changed owners and management in the meantime. I find TripAdvisor less useful when it comes to Timeshares, first because a lot of them aren't reviewed but also because a lot of people complain about things that are standard (no maids for a week should not get a TS graded down!). But if the reviewer tells you enough to get a feel for what they expect the reviews there can be useful, too.

As GreyFal says, areas where there are a lot of Timeshares you can have enough selection to get into a nice place, so you can research the RCI resorts in the overbuilt places that interest you and make a list of ones you'd like to stay in, then if one of them comes up when you can go, there you are! Or, if my experience with RCI is anything to go on, you can watch for a while and get a feel for some of the resorts likely to be available at various times of year and then research those resorts.

I see some overlap between GreyFal's list and RCI's Last Call list, but there are some I don't remember seeing on Last Call as well. Although I only check Last Call the times of year I think I might be going next year, to get a feel for what might show up, so could be I've just missed them.

Up fit on resorts is more like 5 years for a remodel of the I side, not 3. And I personally wouldn't believe anything those sales reps tell you without double checking. They lie often to get u to buy on the spot

I really don't care what some people say about buying resale, most of these timeshare forums are set up by resale companies so you purchase from them.

That's what timeshare forums are all about. However there are times when buying resale works.

In general I would purchase a small package that includes all the bells and whistles from a Bluegreen Corporate site. Then purchase more points from the secondary market at a discount price to get exactly the amount of points you need.

the above method is my recommendation, unless you just want VIP perks that you can only get from Bluegreen Corporate by purchasing a large amount of points, otherwise it is the best route.

So be careful. Also you might have to incur the whole maintenance fee and any big increases by yourself rather than having those spread out among all the owners which is much better.
