Has anyone been there recently? I thought I read it was done over. I haven't been there in about 5 years, and we are thinking of booking for Oct. For a 2 bdrm its about 2K points less then SeaBreeze in Daytona Beach.

Casa del Mar Update
We were at the Seabreeze in early December. We drove up to see what was going on at Casa del Mar. There was extensive construction going on so we we couldn't get closer than a drive by. It definitely is being overhauled from what we saw. The employees at Seabreeze said that the interiors will be newly docorated. It is supposed to be done around May. I hope that helps a bit.

Casa del Mar
Been perusing the forums since a few days ago, thought I'd jump in here with my 1st post.
We "stumbled" into Casa del Mar after talking to our grandparents who have been with RCI for awhile (as far as I can remember.) This was the 1st time my wife and I used their points to go somewhere on our own. The renovations may not be 100% complete (just ride an elevator there) but for a novice like me I was impressed by the room we had (including the decor & amenities.)
We of course sat through a sales pitch trying to get some perks and walked away with a Sampler. We had no intention of buying anything timeshare-related when we left ATL but now I'm quite interested in seeing if I can become an adept BG points owner. We're a young couple with 2 kids so I'm hoping we can modestly get into this over time.

You can VERY modestly get into BG points now....almost free - but study the boards here - go back one full year on the Bluegreen board (change the default on the bottom of the page to "last year" from 100 days)
Read all the stickies - and then I suggest contacting BocaBum99 to assist you in your resale.
Trust Funds are important and chances are u will be better off in "E".

Second the Above Advice
BG is great for our needs, but it is YOUR needs that are important. Please read the posts on the forum....and BoccaBum is a good place to start. We have dealt with his firm three times with good results.
Just be aware that timeshares are not good real estate investments. They are a way of giving you a good value for your vacation. You should not finance these things more than a year....actually, you should be able to pay cash without wrecking your budget. You must understand the yearly maintenance fees and how they will fit into your budget.
You must be able to do a reasonable job of planning your vacations. You cannot expect to call up BG June 15th and expect ot get your first pick for July 4th. They are are people that complain about BG because they cannot plan their vacations in a timely manner....I call these self-inflicted wounds.
Good luck!
