I know the horse is already dead enough, but in a thread talking about lack of availability through one source, a post about lack of availability through another source seems related.
Especially from the one who tracked it day by day, watching for the first-ever one when the resort was new, and who has been kinda paying attention to it since.
Have a nice day.
Actually, no, it isn't relevant ot related in any way.
Owners reserving at a home resort/home resort group has nothing to do with giving a unit to an exchange company.

Please take your RCI hatred elsewhere. Your post does not help the OP. In fact, it confuses the topic.

I already got the message. 15 yards for piling on.

TigerDave,
When are you trying to get in to BC? There are a few 3 day stays still available June through August. Most are studios, concierge, or presidential. You might be able to piece together a stay. You might also get bonus time in a few months. Good luck.

Last summer (2010) I played around a LOT at 11 months and the only time I found an issue was trying to book any kind of unit at all for 4th of July 2011. At the 11 month mark, literally nothing was showing. It was a glitch, though, and a few weeks later the inventory was available for 4th of July 2011. EVERY other time I checked a date for summer 2011 at the 11 month mark, I saw plenty of options EXCEPT for cabins.
I didn't check daily, more like weekly, but I wonder if somehow have this wrong?
We see lots of people say that can't get reservations at Big Cedar. I have always assumed, hopefully not in error, that it is an issue of waiting too long. Even a month or two might be too long in this case.
For summer 2012, I plan to check daily and document what I see available. If wait list reservations are truly filling up all the lodge availability at WCBC for a good portion of the summer, I will be very surprised and humbled and will stop posting the way I have been

My other piece of advice is that when I was looking for La Cabana Christmas, I saw that the inventory was available online at 1am eastern (did not check at 12 midnight ) at exactly 11 months out and I was able to book the additional time I needed. Some people prefer not to reserve online because they like to request specific units but for a high demand tme/resort, this seems to be the way to do it.

But they are intimately related. You have to make a reservation at the resort before you can give it to an exchange company. If it is harder to make a reservation, it is harder to give a reservation to an exchange company.

Did someone hear a whinnie?
Don't play into my hand, like by suggesting that a shortfall of desposit or vast divergence from previous supply through one source might somewhow be related to another source.
But, that is what I was suggesting.
That won't gain you brownie points here.

In response to the original topic......"Getting a reservation at Big Cedar", I have to concur. I have, for the past 2-3 years, done searches throughout the year just looking around to find an open 2-3 day spot in the summer at Big Cedar. I have been very fortunate in the past to get some great weeks/days in summer at short notices. But I too have noticed that this year seems very slim-to-none when I do my searches. I thought this observation was just me, but I'm glad to know that others are having difficulty finding rooms. We usually get our official summer vacation reservations 11 months out with no problems whatsoever, but usually I can find a few open spots throughout the summer a few months out for those spur of the moment trips. It has been very disheartening so far in not finding those spur of the moment openings. I am wondering what is causing the difference this year?

It is good to hear that at 11 months you are getting the week-10 day resie - but I wonder if more people are are getting savvy to the "couple of day" strategy you have used in the past?
I think the difference is the availability of online reservations. It is very easy (tho not as easy as it could be) to just move through the whole summer months looking for a few available dates. I think people might just hunt around more now that online reservations are available and the oddball days get booked now.

To me that is great news. That means that the Club is working even better. Resorts should be full. That means people are using and enjoying their points. Openings close to the use date may go unused which is bad news to me and the Club. The Club can't afford to be like a motel and have lots of empty rooms (and still make a profit).
