  • Owners Update What the@?$

Just got back from an owners update.

They said and I quote" because you bought resale
You no longer have points. At the first of the year it reverted back to the original resort and week only"

"and did you buy this from boca Jim? If so you can join the class action lawsuit.

    Any input is welcome

Let me guess. All of those problems would go away...if you bought a few more points from them.

Honestly, why do people even go to these things?

      Report that nonsense

You should document the name and pertinent details of that nonsense and send a letter to Bluegreen corporate. What a load of crap!

I had my first and only owner update since becoming an owner in January. The guy was aware that all of my 82000 pts were resale (didn't ask if they were through Jim, but they are) and said nothing like this. In fact, he was very complimentary about my knowledge and use of the club.

        Where was the update at?

I have heard the same variation of the "you bought resale so you're points aren't as good" spiel a couple of times now.

The losing the points and going back to a fixed week is a new one, I guess they are pulling out all the stops now to get you to buy their 5,000 EOY packages for $10,000.

Ususally they have told us we will lose bonus time and day use privileges, funny how that has never happened either, huh?
No matter where you go.....there you are...

Just recommend that any such statements be put in writing on the spot. Ask for the sales director to do it and do not let the owner update to continue until you get it in writing, they excuse you for your gift, or they admit that it was a lie. Those are the only 3 acceptable responses.

If you don't get one of those 3 responses, write down the name and license number of the sales agent and write a letter to Bluegreen to ask for clarification on the policy.

If you get it in writing, send it to me and I'll let you know your options for dealing with the information.

            It was at Big Cedar.

It was very unusual because he started out by asking where we bought our resale points.

            I said I didn't remember.

He said was it from an authorized reseller?

            I said I don't know, I think so.

He said you didn't buy it from Pinnacle, it says so right here. Before I said anything hee said did you buy it from Boca Jim? From Boca Raton? Geez, we are in a class action lawsuit against him right now (SIC), and I'm really sorry, you got taken. You can get in on the class action lawsuit if you want.

For the record, we did not buy from Boca Jim, not that I remember who we bought them from.

I then said if my point are worthless, you can have the deeds back, and I will quit claim them back to you right now.

He said who would you give them back to. I said Bluegreen, He asked if you could do that, I said in a New York Minute. He siad he didn't know anything about that because he worked for Big Cedar.

I told him we had nothing left to discuss, if our points were worthless, we certainly were not going to add anymore, and why would I do business with a company that did business like this.

I knew he was lying, corporations cannot file class action lawsuits, people can sell and transfer their holdings at a profit or loss if they so desire, etc.

What struck me as strange was the rantings about Boca Jim. I don't know Boca Jim, but I have read a lot on these borads and he seems a straight up guy.

I will follow up with BlueGreen corporate as well as BassPro. I will post a follow up as well.

And I don't know why we do the owners update. Never again I told my wife.

Thanks for the information. If you can, private message me the name of the sales rep. He is spreading lies about me personally and that practice should stop.

Not sure why this sales rep has a problem with me. You can either purchase resale packages from Pinnacle directly which gives the buyer to opportunity to have Charter Member benefits when they purchase them at the qualifying price.

In addition, there are tons of Bluegreen resellers. The most damaging to the price are those who dump points on eBay and Craigslist. I don't currently do either. So, the only thing I can say is that this person frequents these boards and somehow believes that I have unlimited reach to his potential clients. I don't. If I did, he would probably never make another sale again. The truth is that we touch maybe 2% of the Bluegreen owner base and therefore pose no threat to Bluegreen's retail sales.

I think contentious owner updates could be to blame.

I've read so many reports here and on the Yahoo group board of owners who go into updates with an attitude of either smug superiority or hostile aggressiveness. Often they set out to show the rep how much more they know than he does.

That would grate on anyone's nerves. (I rarely have any sympathy for timeshare salespeople, but occasionally after reading how people act at updates, I feel a twinge.) A few obnoxious updates with your name in the mix, and I wouldn't be surprised that some sales guys would hold a grudge, especially when they realize that they don't have any genuine ammunition to fight with.

Unfortunately people aren't savvy about what should be said and what shouldn't in these meetings.

I think you have a point, but they have a database as well, just don't invite "resales" to owners updates, very easy to flag, would save them a ton of money as well.

The funny thing was he kept asking me if I were mad. I told him no, but if he was lying to me , then yes.
