  • Using Saved Points w/RCI

I just bought a resale membership with 10k points that will expire 7/31/11

If I transfer them (bank them or whatever it's called) can I use this credit past that date?

I can't use these through blugreen as the placed that I'd like to go before 7/31 are all "ultra red" or higher. Saved can only be used on red and below.

However, I need to go to Albuquerque in September. Can I put these points in now to trade for a reservation in ABQ after the expiration date?

    Thanks

Unfortunately not any more, your points have to be current to make a reservation.

An option that could work is for you to make a reservation they Bluegreen requesting a "triangulated week" so you can deposit it and give it to one of the independent exchange companies such as TPI, DAE,SFX.

These companies generally give u credit for two years after the reservation date to use your week/exchange.

SFX will only take certain resorts at specific times but TPI could be a good option for you. Trading Places International - Home

If you haven't found out already, it just means a week with good trading power. Several factors play into the trading power - time of year, size of unit, location of resort, and maybe a few more.

"Triangulated" is the term BG uses to identify weeks that can be deposited in exchange companies. In order to be called triangulated the reservation has to be tied to an actual deeded week/unit. So even though you can make a Tuesday to tuesday 7 night resie at Big Cedar, in order to deposit you need one that is Saturday or Sunday check-in to coincide with the deeds at that resort. By looking at the RCI or II directories you can determine what check in dates are available for particular resorts.

              Saved Points

I have a similar question. We also have about 11000 saved points that we got because of a recent upgrade. They expire in September, but we don't think we can use them all. From what I am reading, you can't bank the points with RCI anymore? Can we use these points to make a week's reservation at a Blue Green property, deposit that with RCI, and then have the two years to use - or at least some time past September to use?

If you deposit a week with RCI, do you get a week in return? Or, do they give you the equivalent value of your week in points? The points and weeks thing is getting us confused.

No, you can no longer reserve a week and bank it with RCI. This was the old way that was recently replaced.

To use RCI and exchange, now you must log into the exchange system via the BG website and do an "instant" exchange using your points. My understanding is that you can exchange into the future up to two years out. I can't foresee my vacation that far into the future so it's a step backwards to me.

Optionally you can use one of the other exchange companies of which there are several. You reserve a week with BG then deposit it. You must make sure that the exchange company will accept that resort before reserving the week - meaning you'll need to reserve a week at a resort that they will accept.
