  • BlueGreen Premier Membership

    Hello,

I have been considering turning in my eBay points and buying new points in order to get either the Gold and or Platinum membership.

My question is, are there any real benefits with this level of membership? i.e. Am I going to be able to recoup the thousands more it will cost me to upgrade to these points?

I realize that one of the benefits is upgrading to presidential suites, however with the short-time line they give you most friends and family would not be able to get off that quickly in order to join me. Additionally there are only a few resorts which even have them.

The lower SC fee's, cancellation, and yearly maintenance fees is primarily what I am interested in. FF bonus time may be good, and the extended stays would also be of small interest to me.

The one other question I have is regarding the "free stays" in white or blue season. Are there 1. restrictions to the resorts that the certificates can be used at and 2. can they be gifted to a friend, relative, and or rented out?

Since there has been much discussion on your questions, you may do well to do some searches. There is a whole lot of posts on these questions already asked and answered.

Personal feeling: I wish I didn't have as many points as I do because I still have to work for a living and only have so many days vacation per year. I can't use all I have and can not count on getting points/time rented out. I have never had enough time to use my blue and white freebie weeks. And then I sit through an owner update where they tell me I need to buy more points.

Scroll down to the bottom of this page and u will see it says display post "last 100 days"
Change that default to 1 year and u will see lots of info about these issues.
REALLY....also agree about using the search function and restrict it to the Bluegreen Board

Bluegreen will no longer let you trade in ebay (unauthorized) points, so you would basically need to give those away or pay someone to take them.

To get Gold level (35,000 points) at the minimum of $1.25 per points, it will cost you $43,750.

To get Platinum (60,000 points), it will cost you $75,000.

I don't think there's anyway to financially justify this, when you could probably get the same number of unauthorized eBay points for less than $3,000.

The yearly MF between Gold/Platinum points are the same as eBay points as long as your eBay points are in Trust Fund E.

At these prices, the only way Gold/Platinum comes out ahead financially is if you live to be 1,000 years old. It will take a lot of free cancellations, white weeks, and discounted SC/bonus time to make back $40K-75K.

I would say that you should only go for Gold/Platinum if you need the extended wait list to get in a particular resort/unit at peak time.

Thanks for your thoughts, although the maintenance fees are less if I upgrade. Althoguh all contracts are in trust fund E, I pay the $310 general fund fee on each contract.

I am thinking I may sell/give the three extra contracts I have and get one bigger point package to go along with my original package which has the Traveller's Plus. Your right though in that I have pretty much come to the conclusion bonus week's, cancellation fees, etc is not going to warrant spending another 25 or $30,000. If only I could get as good a deal on the extra 28,000 points as I did on my initial 7000.

I think Jim has smaller packages that he could sell and would be able to combine the accounts so you only pay the one $310 fee. You would need to check with him to find out for sure.

I have 5 accounts that only have the 1 fee, however, they are about as screwed up as can be. One account has the wrong middle inital on my name, couple other accounts have other errors. I show as gold on my account, but sales always tell me I am not gold, that I am silver. Whenever I do an 'update' (and I really wish there was an update and not just a sales push) they are never able to pull up my accounts. They waste my time as well as anyone working on my files.

You need to get this fixed - your accounts need to be combined under one ownership number to get one base fee.
Talk to Boca.....it will be worth it to get everything straightened out. and that $320X4 or 5 will look much better in your pocket.

I can do this? As far as I knew they are all under one ownership number (when I login they all show except one currently in progress). I thought the reason for the multiple GF was due to being non-authorixed points? I am in discussions with BocaBum now. He helped me purchase the first one, so hopefully he can help me get this mess straightened out. I agree, the savings in yearly MF's could pay for the extra benefits. Having the same use year would help as well, it definately get's confusing!
