    Sorry, perhaps I misunderstood. So, if I understand this correctly what you are saying is;

Anniversary date is June 1, 2011 (2011/2012 points not yet allotted but paid November 1 2010.) I can request those points NOW and use them prior to June 1, 2011?

I have another contract with a September 1, 2011 anniversary date, which the MF's were paid Nov 2010. Does that mean on on Nov 1, 2011 I pay my MF's and then immediatly request to borrow my next allotment of points September 1, 2012? I should also be able to borrow the points for this contract as well?

As you can tell I want to make sure that this concept is understood. Is there not a rule that says borrowed points have to be used immediately? Are there rules for borrowed poitns? If this is all true (which I am sure it probably is given the source) what the heck is an anniversary date even for?

Is this not going to increase the number of UltraRed season reservations making it even more difficult? The way it sounds, if done properly points can always be used in UltraRed season and this essentially removes the red, white, blue restrictions place previously.

This of course is all well and good as long as MF's do not have to be paid irregularly.

To your last point, I agree if they can not be used in 2 years get rid of them or rent in the years you can not.

That gives you an extra year to use them. It is a one time adjustment to using your points one year in advance of when you get them. Then, going forward, the only difference is you have 2 years to use your points in high red season instead of only 1. In 99.9% of the cases, that should solve the saved points fee problem. THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IN BORROWING AHEAD VS NOT BORROWING AHEAD IS YOU GET 2 YEARS INSTEAD OF 1 YEAR TO USE IN HIGH RED SEASON.

If a person cannot use all of their annual points in a 2 year period, then either they have too many points, or timesharing is not for them since their travel patterns are not conducive to the planning requirements of timesharing.

CORRECTION: Update on Save Points Rule

Okay, this should tell you that Bluegreen is paying attention to what we say on this message forum. I was just contacted by the person who is implementing the new saved points rule. They told me I have it wrong and they wanted to correct me.

The way the new saved points rule will work is this. At the time you make payment to enable your account to be eligible for saved points, ALL of the accounts you currently own will be flagged as eligible for automatic saving at the next anniversary date for those points. So, if you have May, Aug and Sept earn dates, ALL of these accounts will have a flag set that enables you to save them for this use year when you make payment.

However, if you purchase additional accounts later, those accounts will NOT be eligible unless you make another payment. So, pick the time you want to save points judiciously.

I do not believe that this will not be a huge money maker for Bluegreen. It is a smart implementation because it makes use of how the system currently works. I believe this will have its intended effect which is to reduce the liability of the Club for outstanding saved points that will never be booked anywhere. At any given time, there may be 10-20% (I am making a guess here) of owners who never use their points. Those owners points turn into saved points and there is an inventory liability by the Club to have inventory available to support those bookings. Now, many of those owners will not pay the extra fee to save their points, so they will simply expire. Then, the Club does not need to have inventory set aside for those to be booked.

if I can afford it, you are recommending I pay my maintenance fee's May 1, and borrow next years points so I have a total of 22K points..11K will not become saved for 24 months. The idea would be to pay the main fee's every may....

        interesting..
Or, just borrow your points in Nov after you pay your maintenance fees. You will still get 6 months extra to use them. If you want the full 2 years, then pre-pay in May.

Wow, I didn't realize BG did that - they get to earn interest on your money and you don't get to use those points yet. BG should be paying you interest on that money. Seems like they should automatically set your account to borrow mode in this case, or not bill you until May 1. There's got to be lots of accounts like this.

Bluegreen changed their billing plan in late 2008. All owners purchasing packages under the new plan get billed on their anniversary date.

This does create issues for owners who have package bought prior to the new billing plan. But, that's the content for another thread.

Thank you for the clarification of the saved points policy (#17).

Due to a recent purchase, I could have some saved points for (probably) this year only while I play "catch up" - I am very appreciative that BG listens to its' owners and responds to our needs.

Excellent. Has no impact on me whatsoever; just seems fair.

                  Bi-annual points?

So this also applies to bi-annual points? We wife and I can only travel about once every other year hence our bi-annual plan.

                    biennial points

Is there a different impact on a biennial program? If maintenance fees are paid ahead each year, can points be borrowed and if so, how many?
