Benefits of having a home resort?

What are the benefits to having a home resort? Don't I get to book at my home resort before other people from other BG resorts are allowed? Must I have the underlying week? Specifically, I would like to book 2 weeks at Christmas EOY at The Hammocks or Boyne. Say I buy my points there, would I be likely to obtain a high-demand time like that, given that I book at the first moment of opportunity? Or would Platinum, Gold and Silver owners scoop up those times before I have a chance?

I would like to add that I am much more interested in obtaining my preferred vacation time (the two weeks following Christmas) than capitalizing on Bonus Time or the like...

The benefit of having "home resort" is that you can book 'bonus time' which is reservation 45 days out(48 on-line) at the "home resort." Also, if you buy week 51(approximately Xmas) at XYZ resort if you book that resort between 12 months and before 11 months you get the unit and week that you own. So if you own a one bedroom Christmas week at the XYZ resort and you call 48-52 weeks before you are eligible to use your week, you are guarenteed that week. At the 11 month point all bluegreen owners can make reservations for the unit and that week at XYZ you are deeded. If you buy "qualified" you should be abe to get bonus at all the bluegreen resorts. If you get "unqualified" points then you have bonus time only at XYZ resort you are deeded. Bonus time is also not a guarentee at the 45/48 days point. Typically bonus time is cheaper than the nightly motel rate and has variable availability(sometimes none). Platinum gives 14 month request before the date the deeded unit at XYZ, Gold 13 months and Silver is 12 months for a week at a unit for a specific week. However, the owners have priority until the 11 month point and then the unit gets opened to any Platinum-Gold-Silver requests. If a Gold would make their request at exactly 13 months and the Platinum owner makes same request at 12 months + 29 days the Gold owner would get the unit request. In this case it is 1st request gets priority. Ideally after the 1st owner does not have request, 2nd there are no Platinium/Gold/Silver requests then the unit is THEN 3rd open to all Bluegreen points owners. If you have a particular week you may have to wait for it to come available. The week you want may not have an EOY available(although it may). I have bought through Bocabum, if you read posts here and yahoo, you will find he is GREAT to deal with and will seek to get what YOU WANT, not just make a sale. Keep asking questions, to insure you are another happy Bluegreen Owner. For price, and locations, and general quality BG is I believe the best value on the market.

Hi, it is me again.... as a Gold Premiere member, I can request resorts/reservations at 14 months, Platinum can request at 15 months, Silver at 13 months and Bronze at 12 months - regular members can reserve at 11 months at 12:01 am eastern time - no reservation is given until the day before the 11 month mark when the busy bees at BGVC match and confirm our requests.

That being said - request to join on this site the BG HOA - one of our wonderful members Anita has been tracking availability at the most popular resorts at 11 months - and contrary to what many believe - there IS availability at the 11 month mark - Thank You Anita!!!

So yes, it can be good to have a GOOD underlying week as ONLY u can reserve it from 12 months to 11 months 1-2 days before check-in - but most find it is not necessary (exception is the "Big Cedar" summer weeks - a cult exists )
I have a week 52 1BR 14K week deed at Marathon - but would only exercise that right if I wanted to deposit it with RCI.

Keep reading and doing your homework - and no, do not buy an EOY ownership with BG - you pay more fees - you just need to prepay your maint fee one year to get two years worth of points as annual/borrowed points - keep reading!

Hammocks or Boyne at Christmas

Like Glitter said, you're a smart one. You're taking your time to really do the research. I predict you'll be a happy BG owner sometime soon.

With Bluegreen, owning at a specific resort gives you no greater advantage vs owning somewhere else UNLESS you own the week you actually want to travel. If you're able to find the week or two weeks you want to use at the resort, you're definitely able to get your deeded week(s) and no one can jump in front of you. Yet you still have the flexibility to book somewhere else.

You might find this interesting. Right now, 8 months out from Christmas, there is nothing available to check in at Hammocks between Dec 24 and Dec 31. You could book a 2 week stay at the Hammocks starting on Dec 31 right now. At Boyne, the only thing I'm seeing right now is a 1 bedroom 12/30 - 1/3. I have never checked availability at either resort around Christmas at 11 months (earliest booking window).

Thx Anita - as an FYI, I was able to book a studio and 1BR at La Cabana 12/25-1/2 (8 days) at the 11 month mark - I got a studio by requesting at 13 months.
This was before u started your tracking.....

I suspect that the Hammocks can be has at the 11 month mark as well as Solaris Surfside.

Just to recap:
1st choice - underlying weeks deed holder (12 mo)
2nd choice - Platinum, Gold, Silver or Bronze points, first-come-first-served in request queue, with request window opening corresponding to the level of membership, (ie-Platinum can request starting at 15 mo, Gold 14 mo, Silver 13 mo, Bronze 12 mo)
3rd - Everyone else (11 mo)

To be clear, these request windows are for Premier members from any BG resort, not just Hammocks, yes?
