I wanted to see if anyone else had run into a similar issue to what I did today .
Earlier this week I was able to put on hold and then confirm a 2 bdrm for 6/30-7/6/12 at HVGC Kingsland. With this being pretty far out into the future, I wanted to purchase vacation protection but the option was not available online. I have had this issue before, have called in and had it added via a CSR. For full disclosure, my RCI account is a Bluegreen corporate account although I have another week linked through this account as well.
Long story short, when I called today to try and add Vacation Protection I was told that I was not eligible to purchase this because my account was through BlueGreen. When I asked when this changed, the CSR indicated this occurred when Bluegreen went to a direct points portal with RCI and now there is no reason to protect your points. I explained that I had purchased VP just 1 1/2 months ago and was told it was no problem. The CSR explained that was because the week I had used was a fixed week I had deposited myself from Bluegreen. However, the current week was not eligible because I had used a deposit credit (didnt matter that it was a credit from a fixed week that I had deposited).
So, I was unable to get anywhere. Before I call back and hopefully get a different CSR I wanted to see if anyone else had run into the same issue and if so if I am in fact no longer have this option. I could understand this if I had gone through the Bluegreen portal and used my BG points to reserve the week. However, I would have thought TPU's from previously banked fixed weeks would be allowable.
