Originally posted by want2travelSo the levels are bronze platinum and gold? We bought ours at Big Cedar. We bought 15,000 points at around $1.50 a point I think. They also gave us a 1 week RCI trip and a cruise to be used in the next year or they can extend it if we don't use it. My husband will be retiring in the next few years and we want to have something paid for before he retires. We want to have something available for our kids as well as be able to travel to other countries. How many points will I need annually? Just an estimate?
the premier levels are Bronze, then gold, then platinum.
When you say "other countries", what locations specifically are you meaning? If you're talking about Mexico or Canada, piece of cake. Lots of Caribbean islands are a reasonable possibility. European cities - pretty much forget about it. It isn't impossible, just highly unlikely.
As for how many points you'll need...that is a tough one because no one can decide but you. I originally thought 20K would be plenty, then 40K. I'm now at 80K and I easily use all my points. We do a lot of long weekend travel in expensive unit types (big cedar cabins) which is very spendy on the points. If you travel midweek and stay in a studio or a one bedroom, it is a whole different deal. Study the points chart. Pick the 2 or 3 different locations you'd like to travel and do the math. That will give you an idea.
Don't do this on credit - if you didn't pay cash for the BG points, 100% absolutely and totally rescind the deal. This is not a purchase that makes sense to pay finance charges on!

If you have rescinded and are buying on the resale market, you will need to pay $1.25 per point to get qualified points that count towards the premier levels, if you want to work towards that, and get things like Traveler's Plus.
Pinnacle Vacations is the only authorized reseller of BG points, but do not contact them directly. Contact Bocabum on here first, he's an authorized agent for Pinnacle.
