  • New Owner Intro

We recently bought in at Falls Village, Branson, MO. I probably could have saved money, bought a different package, etc but I'm satisfied and in no way feel I was mislead. One of the primary motivators was the ability to pass along the benefits of ownership to our children.

We purchased a minimum level of points (10000, every other year) with the intention of testing the waters and expanding our point level if this ends up being something we're happy with.

My questions at this point are two-fold; what difference does the location of our deeded timeshare make? and what's the best, easiest, most cost efficient manner in which we could expand to silver level? (I know those might not be the same answer for each caveat).

    Thanks.

    Thanks.
In general, your deeded week doesn't really matter. There are a couple of cases where it might:

    1. If you own a desirable week (for example Big Cedar cabin over the 4th of July), then you have the option of booking this week instead of receiving your points, before anyone else, at 12 months. You are guaranteed to get this week. If you own a week that is not hard to book, then there is no reason to use the 12 month option.

    2. If you wish to sell your timeshare someday, some resorts have slightly better resale than others. For example, Big Cedar often sells for higher than Mountainloft on ebay. You should know that overall the resale value of your timeshare at this point is close to $0 and many people are paying to give them away on ebay.

    3. If someone buys your timeshare from you as an independent resale, and not through Pinnacle, then they can get bonus time at your deeded resort.

The cheapest way to get to Silver level at this point is to purchase a resale through Pinnacle Vacations at $1.25 per point. You can search their website and filter by packages with "Charter Benefits". You would need to buy at least 15,000 additional annual or 30,000 biannual points to get to Silver.

You can get additional points that don't get you closer to Silver level for close to $0.

I would recommend talking with Bocabum (Jim) he can help you work with Pinnacle and other sources to come up with the best combination of points that suits your needs.

Thanks. That's exactly the kind of info I was looking for.

Just seconding the recommendation of Bocabum, especially if you're wanting authorized points. Generous with his good advice for free and does a great job when you're paying him.
