  • Considering purchasing Bluegreen, have some questions

Hi all! I hang out in Lancaster/Hershey PA almost every year the last (or second to last) week of August. I considered getting a timeshare in Lancaster but there are none that I can find, however I did find Hershey Suites.

I found a time share on eBay here but it doesn't have a specific week attached to it. I need to have first "dibs" for that exact week in order for this to be worth it for me.

How do I find out what week this is attached to? 6,000 points seems kind of shabby for the week I would need.

Anyone know of any other timeshare opportunities in that region?

Another question, I'm paying $900 in annual fees for just 6,000 points, does that makes any sense? Seems pricey.

    Thanks for any help...

That may be a challenge but the guy to talk to is Boca Bum.

6000 points at Hershey will get you weeks 1-12 or 44-47. If what they're selling is actually in red season as they claim, which is possible (Red season weeks are 12000 points), it's a half-week. Or, since they say it's an even year, this might be for a full week every other year.

Hershey Suites is the only resort I know of in the Lancaster area; most of the PA TS resorts are in the Poconos.

$900 for 6000 points in the Bluegreen system is high, but in other systems it's not.

      Hershey

Boca is indeed the guy to talk to for a Bluegreen purchase.

Hershey is not hard to get through the Bluegreen system, so booking the week you want is not likely to be difficult as long as you book at the 11 month mark. (You'd probably be able to get it up until about 6 months out, but if the week matters, book asap).

IIRC, a full summer week at Hershey is 15,000 Bluegreen points.

Rats, meant to make that point. The ad seemed to be breaking Hershey down into five seasons: there're actually four there.

        High Red Season Weeks 21-34, 51-53 15000/week
        Red Season Weeks 17-20, 35-43 12000/week
        White Season Weeks 13-16, 48-50 9000/week
        Blue Season Weeks 1-12, 44-47 6000/week

Hershey is tough to get through RCI, I've heard, but my experience using BG points echoes Anita's -- you can get in pretty easily at 11 months, and even later with a bit of flexibility. There are also rentals available, both people with points and people renting out weeks. You might prefer renting from someone with points, since I think most weeks owners are in building one, nearest the RR tracks, which some people think is kind of noisy. And if you're going off season, buildings 2 & 3 are connected to the indoor pool, while staying in building 1 means a possibly chill walk back. Dunno if it's still the case, but don't think building one has the jetted tubs, either.

OTOH, building one is closest to the Clubhouse and outdoor pool, and furthest from the main road, so some people prefer it in the summer.
