  • A Few Questions from a New Owner

Hello! My husband and I recently purchased a small Bluegreen package off of ebay. To expedite the closing process, my husband completed the paperwork and I was not listed on the deed. We did not think of this at the time, but will this cause issues with me being able to use the bonus time without my husband? If so, how do we go about adding my name to the title?

Also, we have tried to access the RCI exchange portion of the website and have not been able to do so. How do we get an RCI exchange account set up?

We have 6,000 points that we need to use prior to November. Is my understanding correct that we just need to make a reservation through Bluegreen prior to November to use these points (i.e. the trip could be in January 2012 that we book with these points)?

Thank you in advance for your assistance!

Yes, if only your husband is on the ownership, only he can check into a bonus time unit.

Also, you do know that you only get bonus time at the resort you own when you purchase a package off eBay like you did, right?

I can answer this one, as I ran into this with an eBay purchase made earlier this year myself. The reservation must be made with a start date prior to the last day of your use year. Simply making the reservation prior for travel dates after is not enough.

I have 2800 points left myself that may go to waste if I cannot get a resort Hot Week during the busiest months of July and August when they expire August 31st!

Once you get your login for the BlueGreenOwner site you access the RCI portal through there. AFAIK you no longer have to "setup" your RCI stuff, as you do not login directly through the RCI site, but somebody else can correct me if I am wrong.

Thanks for the information. Yes, we are aware that we can only get bonus time at our home resort. We purchased a small package at Mountainloft (within easy driving distance) to see if we would use the timeshare. We would eventually like to purchase authorized resale points and expand. How difficult is it to get my name added to the deed?

It is not difficult but you will have to pay a fee...I believe BG charges $250 for ownership transfer.

Wait until BG has your points package all registered and in their system, then call BG and ask them how to add your name.

I believe BG is the actual owner of the deed, or the trust is. You will be registered as having purchased it - something like that. But BG can tell you how to do that and what the fee will be - I'm sure they'll have a form to fill out.
