  • New with lots of questions

Hi everyone, first off, you'll probably see lots of post from me, as a new owner who knows some (learned here and from a fellow owner) but not enough.

I own 10k points, bought from BlueGreen in Gatlinburg, Tn. Would like to become a silver member, but have read so much about buying resale points and some can add to my point total and some can't. How do I know which is which and which do I want? I have seen that I should talk to Boca, but do I want just cheap points or should I go for authorized resale? Next Forth of July we have our first vacation planned for Mountain Loft (my wife and I love Gatlinburg), but want to visit as many of the other places as possible also. Are cheap points capable of this? Many more questions to come, just starting my education, and thanks in advance for all the feedback.

        1. Resale points do not count toward silver status unless purchased through Pinnacle (and Boca is a referral agent for them and a great guy to work with). All resale purchases count towards your point total (assuming they are all in the same name). However, purchases in different trust funds will give you different maintenance fees.

        2. Only you can answer this. It depends upon your needs (wants) and your budget. If you don't want the choicest units at the choicest resort at the choicest time of the year, just resale points will be fine.

        3. For reservations, all points count the same. However, to get the choicest units at the choicest resort at the choicest time of the year will require silver or above level using authorized points so that you can waitlist. And platinum members don't always get their waitlist requests.
