  • Bluegreen cracking down on rentals of Bonus Time

I just received word from Bluegreen headquarters that they will be cracking down on rentals of Bonus time reservations. Evidently, some people are booking up to 10 or more reservations using bonus time and renting them out.

Bluegreen will be enforcing check in policies at all resorts which requires the owner to check into the unit. In addition, if a pattern of behavior is detected, the reservations will just be cancelled even if the owner cannot be located.

If you have bonus time rentals over the next 2 weeks, I would take the appropriate action to protect yourself against your renters not having a unit for check in.

    People !!!

It just amazes me that people will take an advantage of a nice feature of Bluegreen. It just makes it harder on all of us when people do not follow the rules. If you don't like a rule, then voice your concern to Bluegreen management. If there are enough concerns, Bluegreen will consider it.

First I want to say that although rarely do I use bonus time, it would be nice to have it when available so Kudos to BG for cracking down.

Second, I am surprised that people are actually renting these units and that they are available. If owners are not taking them, does that not say something about the resort or the location?

I really have only seen Florida available during the summer months and other warm destinations. Do people really travel to these locations last minute? 10 units at a time definately sets of red flags, and surprises me to no end.

This just aggravates the stew out of me. I have never been a rule breaker and those who rent out their bonus time deserve to get reservations cancelled. We live only about 2 1/2 hours from Pigeon Forge and 3 hours from Gatinburg and it is great to be able to get bonus time to go up for the weekend. Thanks for the heads up, but people shouldn't have to be warned that they can't break the rules..........whew.......I feel mo bettah now!!!!

              Right there with you, ice!

I'm not a rule breaker either, and can't imagine people doing this!

              Icky!

Substitute exchanges and RCI and it is exactly how all that started. Flagrant abuse by individuals puts an end to looking the other way for occassional indiscretion.

I've generally had to show a credit card or dl that has my name on it so am also surprised that it was not enforced.

JLB those ads are probably legit, made by owners with mega points who are in the rental business. bonus time is closer to check in i believe, and the reservation is in the owner's name and he/she is supposed to be there for check in.

It wasn't log ago that folks doing rentals with their Fairham ownerships got cut off.

Nothing in those ads that seems out of order, just be careful with any online transaction.
