What has she done for us?
How do you know she won't be there after the meeting?

I have to think that the way the MF have gone up, she hasn't pulled any weight for us.

Since they hasn't been a quorum in a while, I don't know that she will be gone.

I think that it would be nice to vote out a lot of the incumbents. Put it some tea party people and drop our fees down.

So either I, as a lowly peon, know more about what's going on with BG than someone on the board, or Marge is using "SpaceBank" to refer to something totally different - paying so the points will roll over, maybe?

If it's a terminology issue, I can totally understand -- I've been telling hubby the lawn needs to be "vacuumed" since we got married, which was long before old age malapropism provided an excuse. And to be honest, it kind of looks to me like she's saying she paid to have her points roll over. But if Marge doesn't know about the changes regarding RCI and why people are irked that spacebanking is no longer an option, she doesn't deserve to be serving, because she's making no effort to stay on top of what BG is doing.

Another thing that bothers me with Marge is that she has joined on 8-30 and posted twice with her last check in on 8-31. She obviously is very busy or just doesn't want to have a connection with with the users of BG who post on this 4M.

Another reason why I cast my vote for Susan.

She would make a great politician! Although they do at least try. After reading some of our messages, we did not exactly make her feel very welcome.

Marge is a very intelligent and capable woman.. However, as she admits- her business Lennon Communications has long been a PR firm for many timeshare developers and businesses. She also provides ghost writing services for many of the same clients (for example, I believe she currently writes all the blog posts for Jason Tremblay's Timeshare Authority website) so there may be other companies that she works for without having the "credit" go to her.

As an industry insider, it creates the question of whether or not she can effectively represent the average timeshare owner, since her business is somewhat based on collecting consulting fees from developers. How exactly does she draw the line between these two vastly different responsibilities?

I personally believe that it is possible to perform both duties, but understand that it would be extremely difficult not to blur the lines. If she has been able to do so for more than the last decade, kudos to Marge....

I have no dog in this fight as I proudly am not the owner of a single timeshare at this time!

But I just thought it strange that no one here pointed out what appears to me to be a possible conflict of interest for the position..

There was a large slice of sarcasm in my post.
I just thought that as most here voted for Susan and I guess most on the Yahoo group too then it should be a done deal.

Since there was no quorum at today's annual meeting, no election could be held. According to the by-laws, BG then has to appoint someone to the vacant post. Much to no ones surprise, BG reappointed Ms. Lennon.

Maybe she will work for reinstating our ability to bank with RCI, something she thought we could still do. She might be intelligent and capable, but first and foremost she has to pay attention to what she is voting on.

To obtain a quorum by proxy

To try and get a quorum by proxy. Susan reported:

                            162,800 owners
                            15% or 24,000 needed for a quorum
5,584 proxies received plus 7 owners present

So, BG owners are like the rest of we Americans, willing to complain but not willing to vote. In all honesty, when faced with a ballot with 16 or so names on it, how could one decide if one wasn't part of a group pushing one candidate? And if you are dissatisfied, you wouldn't want to vote for the incumbent.

That is a rotten arrangement, as it means the owners will always be subject to the imperial rule of the developer. Personally, I NEVER buy a timeshare where the developer controls the board, which is a downright incestous arrangement. Actually, you often have to watch the developer trying to insert its shills into the elected board members as well, and one basic question of any board candidate should be what their relationship with the developer is.

Agreed but I like BG resorts. To make it even worse, in the absence of a quorum, BG gets to appoint their shill for the Class A position.
