A timeshare director, however, can participate in RCI's VIP program where the rules are different from those for other members. I used the VIP program myself, and I know how it worked a few years ago when I used it. There were likely changes when Points Lite came in, but I would not have a way to know what those are. It is possible she took advantage of the VIP program to do something ordinary BG members cannot.

If it's a terminology issue, I can totally understand -- I've been telling hubby the lawn needs to be "vacuumed" since we got married, which was long before old age malapropism provided an excuse. And to be honest, it kind of looks to me like she's saying she paid to have her points roll over. But if Marge doesn't know about the changes regarding RCI and why people are irked that spacebanking is no longer an option, she doesn't deserve to be serving, because she's making no effort to stay on top of what BG is doing.

And all along I thought she wanted to be director for the free orange juice and donuts. Thanks for the heads up.

I am sad that she was only her to ask for our vote and has not returned. She was not here to listen to us about concerns we have, or discuss the board meetings so we could understand what actions are on the table at the meetings.

I have nothing to do with this but I will say if I did and the person never came back to listen here, I know I would not be voting

I will post the meeting notes when I get a chance. Good news. Bluegreen did listen to us. The big news is

                  1) NO INCREASE IN Maintenance fees. First time ever. This is due to cost cutting at the resorts and lower than expected delinquencies.

                  2) Free wifi at all resorts (except La Cabana).

                  3) The Pet policy is being changed back to NO PETS.

I would say that these three items were the most vocally expressed in all of the Bluegreen Forums in which I participate. Bluegreen was clearly listening and acted on the behalf of owners.

How many companies can say no increase in MF's! Now if only we could get them going down. Does this apply to all Trust Funds?

All Trust Funds except A and C which are pass through from the HOAs and are not controlled by Bluegreen.

                        Election Result Comments

I want to thank everyone for their support in voting in the election and then one step beyond for voting for me. Beyond there being no meeting and therefore the whole election processing being null and void, BG (the class B member) automatically appoints four of the seven directors on the Board of Directors anyway. So if all or any of the Class A directors are actually elected, they only truly have voice--as their vote does not count.

Congratulations to Marge Lennon for being re-appointed. I hope that she has opportunity to read this but since I doubt she will, I do plan to e-mail her to encourage her to represent the owners and to personally/formally congratulation her on her reappointment/non-win. (No, I won't put non-win in its verbiage! Since I don't actually know that to be truth.) I will suggest that she become active on this board and that she also become a member of the BG Yahoo group so she can become aware of what owners' interests are.

Later today, I will post my notes on Timeshare Forums which I have posted on the BG Yahoo group.

Again, thanks for your support. Your support in voting was really support for us all as owners, not just for me.

It's a relief to see that the timeshare world remains consistent.

And Susan helped solidify those concerns. As someone else has said, Susan is the only candidate who got her platform implemented without getting elected. Her platform was our platform.

This is exactly the type of timeshare I would NEVER buy into; one where the developer has a permanent lock on control of the board. Timeshare boards need to at some point pass to control of the members and out of the hands of developers. What makes it worse is the facade of even having member-elected directors. Undoubtedly they set the quorum deliverately at a point they knew there would never be one and they could thus control all of the board by appointment. That royally stinks. I only buy at resorts with homeowner democracy and never at those under developer dictatorship.

I have not seen which candidate actually got the most votes. Was that announced?

Jim did a really nice recap of the owner meeting in the Bluegreen Resorts forum so I don't see any reason to rehash all of that for you. You can find it in this thread:

                                http://www.timeshareforums.com/forum...tml#post463488

A few additional comments from me:

From the owner meeting, it sounded like the bonus time problem was a glitch in the online booking and that has been straightened out now.

The free wi-fi (which I prefer to call wi-fi at no additional charge) will be slowly implemented resort by resort and hopefully will be fully implemented by the end of 2012. The neat part about this to realize is that this will cost thousands of dollars and yet they were able to hold our maintenance fees at the same level as 2011. I just hope this won't mean that the maintenance of our resorts will suffer. While I am very excited about no increases, it does make me question this side of it. With all costs going up for utilities, snow plowing, landscaping, insurance and routine maintenance--it just seems as though the maintenance fee budget should always go up. This would technically mean if they were not implementing "free" wi-fi, the budget would have been less than 2011???????

Again, I hate to keep sounding like a politician, but thanks for your votes. It's so important to commend you all. We made a big impact, I believe. Your votes in the election were important as they were a vote to say that all was not well in the state of BG ownership and the owners were restless about some key issues--and that in conjunction with the communication many of you made with BG staff--this is what made these major changes happen. As Jim said, the first time he has seen BG pay such close attention to owners. A big pat on the back to the social networks making such a big difference.
