  • thinking of buying but still a few ?

ok so i have been looking and my wife and i think that BG would be a good fit for us ...lots of good reviews and know a few ppl that either have or have family that have BG and they are all happy so here goes

looking at the points chart i saw most weeks run 10000- 15000 point range for a week at most places we would stay ..is that chart about right i have saw on here where a few ppl have said they stayed a week for 6-7000 points is that closer or a owner secret i need to learn

how many points do i need to get the bonus time at all resorts and not just the one i am deeded to

if i add points later from ebay...ect do i have to pay MF on both or do they combine

does it matter where you are deeded if you plan on going different places

and does the week matter i saw where most are points and says a certin week

just want to make sure before i buy dont want to regret it later thanks Randy

Points are used per night. Different days take different points. Weekends require more. Also the season comes into play. A high demand season requires more points than a low demand season. This varies by resort.

how many points do i need to get the bonus time at all resorts and not just the one i am deeded to
Qualified points gets you bonus time to all resorts. These are bought from Bluegreen or Pinnacle Vacations (only authorized reseller of BG) (or you can buy from Bocabum on this board). If BG includes the bonus time with a purchase there's no set limit that I know of on number of points. Un-qualified points give you bonus time at only the deeded resort.

if i add points later from ebay...ect do i have to pay MF on both or do they combine
The points packages are actually held in trust funds. Each fund has it's own fee calculations. If your points packages are all in the same trust you pay once for the base fee, plus the per point fee for all points. If not in the same trust you pay the base fee plus point fee for each trust.

does it matter where you are deeded if you plan on going different places
Not really. The advantage of the deeded week is that you can reserve that actual week up to 12 months in advance.

and does the week matter i saw where most are points and says a certin week
All points packages have an underlying resort/unit/week which is on the deed. The 12 month advantage above applies to the deeded week as well. If you want the 12 month advantage you have to stay in the resort/unit/week that is on the deed.

just want to make sure before i buy dont want to regret it later thanks Randy

I've been with BG since 2006 and enjoy it, and from what I've read on the 'net it's one of the better systems out there.

As long as they are in the same Trust Fund, it doesn't matter if they are at different resorts.

There is a new twist, within a Trust Fund there are sales type. If you are in Trust Fund E and have sales type A, then you are on Anniversary Billing. The other sales types are not Anniversary Billing. So, you want to have all of your contracts as Sales Type A or none as Sales Type A. If you have both, I understand it creates a mess.

You should consider joining the BG Yahoo Group. The FAQ in their web site will answer lots of questions and the discussion will bring up even more questions.

Lastly, you should either call or PM BocaBum. He will ask you questions about what you want now as well as what you want in the future to help you avoid some of the pitfalls of multiple contracts. If you want qualified points, he can help you work with Pinnacle (he is a referral agent). If you want unqualified points, he has some that you make your eyes roll. He is also a great guy to work with.

You must have told him you were after 10,000 + "qualified" points and he is right on that. No one can help. But if you are after just enough "qualified" points to get Bonus Time at all resorts, and enough "unqualified" points to get 10,000 points or so, then he can help you but you still are looking at $4000 plus I would guess.

Another twist is BG has a requirement on resale points that in order to get the perks, like bonus time for all resorts, you have to pay at least $1.25 per point. Now, of course, that is their rule and rules are made to be broken - Pinnacle might "work a deal" to get a sale.

But remember that Pinnacle is owned by BG. If Pinnacle works a deal it means that BG is working the deal. I wouldn't count on it because if word gets out, then no one who has any contact with Social Media will buy from Pinnacle unless they get the deal also. And BG knows this.

I reread this thread and while the only correct answer to your first question was given right away, there is more to it than that. (The correct answer is: it depends. On what? Resort, season, unit type.)

But, you can get a week in a studio at Big Cedar (flagship resort south of Branson) for 2000 to 5000 points depending on season. You can get a 2 bedroom cabin at Big Cedar in weeks 1-10 for 6000 points. You can get a 2 bedroom in weeks 19-21, 38-42, 48-50 at Mountain Run at Boyne (northern lower Michigan) for 6000 points. Are these choice weeks? Not if you look at the weather and outside activities, but if your need is to just get away and relax, swim at the pool, read a good book, etc., etc. you can do a lot with a few points. Spring Break in Florida, well that's another story as one would expect. And summer everywhere is going to be higher.

Just tell whomever you are working with at Pinnacle that you want qualified points.

If you do an online search for points, there is a new check box called "Bluegreen Points with Charter Benefits" that you can select.

Also, if you buy the cheaper points, you still get bonus time at the resort on the deed.

I am new to this forum, and agree Bluegreen is a great organization. If this is allowed, I have a fixed week (purchased before points program) that I would be willing to sell or perhaps rent it to you to try out first. It is week 47, 11-25 thru 12-2. It is 2BR lockout, a studio/1BR combo, sleeps 6. If interested, for more details and options, please contact me at 601-331-4569 or jkeithwalton@bellsouth.net.
