  • Booking in Two Seasons (High Red/Red)

I tried booking a 2BR at the Fountains for 21-29 April, and all the points were deducted from my annual points. On the reservation screen pop-up calendar, the last two nights are in regular red season. Shouldn't the points from those two nights come from my saved points? Does BG require the entire reservation to be treated as High Red since some of the nights are in the more restricted season, or is this something I can resolve with a phone reservation?

You can call and split the reservation. 7 nights high red & 2 nights saved points. You'll get 2 confirmations. See if the agent can insure you will stay in the same unit.

Remember that the reservation person has the light blinking on the phone saying that another owner wants to make a reservation. The reservation person will probably not examine your points in detail and will note that it is a high red reservation and simply deduct points from just one account. In cases like this you should apprise the reservation person ahead of time that it is a partial high red and partial red time reservation and that they should take the red season points from the saved "bucket". I see no rule against it. I know that I have sometimes made a reservation that is a red week and the points comes out less since that particular unit was part in a red week and part in a white week.

I would suggest calling back and telling the person, in a very nice way, that the previous person neglected to use saved points for the red portion of the reservation and could they correct it. However, be prepared for the particular unit you got to be more high red time than you anticipated.

Thank you for the responses. I ended up calling today and just as you had suggested, it took separate reservations. I was booking two rooms, so I ended up with four reservations. On a side note, I was very pleasantly surprised by the professionalism of the BG rep. He asked what building I wanted, explained the layout of the facility, and went over which buildings have been recently renovated. I had hoped for building 10, but it was booked, so I have two adjacent rooms in building 2.

I find that the BG reps are very accommodating.
When I have made RCI/BG portal reservations online, I know that there will be no consideration to whee the points come from.
As soon as I see it all deducted from my account (usually about 2-3 days) I call BG and have them adjust the points deduction so they come out of the account that has points expiring first.
          They have never said no.
