  • I'm beginning to wonder

    Hello all,

New to BG and new to this forum. I am curious about a few things. First, why does it take so long to get an online account with BG (its been about 60 days) and how does one go about using an RCI hotel as far as points are concerned??? I know there's a fee also, but not sure how that works either. I'm so confused about everything!!! I really don't know what I got myself into and I am literally scared to death. Someone PLEASE help me. Try to reassure me, or something......

Bluegreen is fantastic, but it takes them a long time to get it together with the points in your account, etc. Who did you buy from? You might just give them a call or call Bluegreen and ask them the status of your account.

I know it all seems confusing but hang around here and lot of people will help you. Try to relax about it.

Relative to hotels, I've been a BG member now for several years and have never used that benefit...others have and can chime in, but I believe that it is part of Traveler's Plus. When you get your online account you can read all about it, but from what I hear from others the hotel thing is good if you have some points to burn but is not the best way to get the most bang for your points.

If you bought for the hotel benefit you may be disappointed. If you bought to have great vacations in family-friendly, condo-like accommodations then you will likely be very pleased.

      Reassurance, reassurance, reassurance.

I echo Holly's comments. Happy BG owner since 1998. People will help you here and elsewhere. Just don't put 15 questions in one request. Limit each request for help to one or a small number of questions. Otherwise, the responders will get overwhelmed and some questions will be ignored by all. You might consider joining the BG Yahoo group for further help. That group also discusses questions which are important to a new owner as well as picky questions that one might not encounter ever. Just like any other conversation.

First of all. Don't panic. You're going to love Bluegreen once you learn how to work the system. Secondly, welcome to the forum.

I'm not sure why it takes BG so long to close but I just waited 4 months for a resale purchase to close and that was taking the unit from the home owners association. Where did you buy your unit? That can make a difference in how long it takes to set you up.

As far as RCI exchanges, there is an RCI corporate portal that I believe you might have a link to from your BG account. I don't own BG but am going by what I know of my other accounts that work similarly. You should be able to log onto the portal and see how many points it will cost you for exchanges with RCI. Someone with more BG knowledge should come along soon and verify but there is nothing to fear about all this. It does take some studying to get the most out of your ownership but BG is one of the most straightforward points systems out there and you should be up to speed in no time once they set up your account.

Here is a link to the RCI/BG crossover grid to get you started.

You will need to add an exchange fee dependent on how many days you exchange for. For example a full week would be $179.

When you say "hotel" do you really mean "hotel" or do you mean "resort". (Some new (new to timesharing) members sometimes use the term interchangeably.) I have never used the "hotel" exchange but have used the "resort" exchange many times.
