  • Just back from Casa Del Mar

    Some thoughts:

    1. Staff was excellent.
    2. Rooms are being updated in phases. The bedrooms were great, beds and bedding unbelievable. Kitchens still need to be done. 60's called, want them back.
    3. Did an owners update, was not the same as before for the most part. Talked about owners being able to close their accounts so they are not asked to do any more, lots of good stuff (last 1/2 hour was the same high pressure sales pitch however). Somethings mentioned:

    - New huge resort in Tampa coming on line soon
    - 40 new resorts in the pipeline
    - getting harder to combine deeds, may not be able to do it much longer(?)
    - with TP3, new feature is BG is taking fixed weeks off of current owners outside of system, and going to offer them at a flat 1000 points per week.
    - offered me 4K points (to get me to 15K) @ 2.25 then the next 6K @ 75 cents a point to get me to 21K (declined).

By system do you mean BG Vacation Club or owners of fixed week in the BG Managed resorts or owners in resorts that have nothing to do with BG?

The way it was explained to me was if you were a bluegreen owner, and happened to own a fixed week outside of the bluegreen system, BG has been "trading them in" for BG points.

These fixed weeks will be available @ 1000 per week, first come first serve, regardless of week/location/size.

I am quite confused by your post:

In regards to #2: what does "60's called. want them back." mean? I was just there and LOVED the location and the ocean front unit was FAB but the kitchen was atrocious; they should have saved money updating the lobby and did the kitchens. also, why don't they have central air/heat in those units? just a wall unit in the bedrooms for the whole place? strange.

#3: owners being able to close their accounts? What does this mean? I don't understand.

New Huge resort in Tampa coming soon--what in the world does SOON mean? LOL! Salespeople can say ANYTHING.

40 new resorts in the pipeline. Gosh...it has been 14. I was told 15 in Vegas and now it is 40. Why don't they just say 500? Sales people can say ANYTHING!!!!

Getting harder to combine deeds: well, yes, for those of us with lots of points, it is hard to find deeds in one location to sell to us all of our points. Heck, they already won't combine all of our deeds if we have non-qualified points--what's the big deal anyway, if points are points, does it really matter if the deeds are combined anyway? Give me GREAT weeks at various resorts and I will be happy anyway. Give me the list and let me choose and I will show you what I will buy IF you set the right price. Sales people WILL say ANYTHING.

TP3 has nothing to do with BG taking fixed weeks from owners and offering them 1000 pts for them. What a deal! WOO HOO! And besides, there is no way they are just going to do that. Anytime you are given points by BG, it means you have to BUY more points from BG too. They don't give you anything without you buying. Sales people will and can say ANYTHING.

Their offer to you makes me so mad. They have done this to me before too. Why don't they just cut to the chase and tell you how much the average of this is per point? I don't want them to make it sound like they are giving me such a great deal on those last points. Just give me the average price per point. That's all I ask. This way it looks/sounds/seems better....that's because sales people will tell you ANYTHING to make a sale. Have I said that before? LOL!

          - The phrase "the 60's called" is an euphemism that refers to the fact the kitchen belongs in the 1960's .
          - The way the "closing the account" was explained was they would mark my account as "closed" indicating that I was done buying points, and while I could always request doing an update, "closed" accounts would be a flag to sales that you were not interested in doing the updates anymore.
          - I think the central air is a reflection of the age of the building. You just don't retrofit an older building with central air. The structure just doesn't have the proper ducting and space to retrofit without huge investments.

I think the 1000 points is not what BG is giving the owner of the fixed week to "trade" it it.

It's that BG will offer them to BGVC members at 1000 points for the week to reserve them for use (once BG owns them).
