Hi, my wife and I are new BG members. We only purchased 7000 bi-annual points, but were given Charter Membership as we came thru Bass Pro Shops. I understand this will give us unlimited bonus time and other perks....My question is two-fold: 1. If we buy resale points that do not come with charter, will we still have our bonus time from our original purchase? 2. If we buy resale how do the restrictions work? Can we only use those points at the resort they are deeded or can we go anywhere like we can with our original purchase? Thank you in advance for your help. Greg.

1. True - resale points do NOt come with unlimited bonus time. That is not a drawback since you already have bonus time from your first purchase.
2. Resale points can be used anywhere just like your first set of points.

They can be used anywhere at the 11 month point. They can be used 12 month out at the home resort. This is true of the points you bought also.
If you had enough qualified points (15,000 to 60,000 points, purchased through BG or Pinnacle at the right price, etc) then you would become a Premier have status to allow you to get on the wait list at 12, 13, 14 or even 15 months which give you a much better chance of getting your resort and week of choice. The resale from ebay, ect. will not qualify for the premier level. That is the difference of qualified points vs. resale non-qualified points.Don

as long as it is points you are buying vs fixed week, there will be no problem in using the points throughout the Bluegreen network.
You may be confused by bonus time, which can be restricted on resale to only available at THAT resort.
But you're charter, you have no issues with either of these.
So far as I know, the only points-use restriction on buying type has to do with Sampler packages, and that's not what you bought, right?

Thanks again for all your help. I dont imagine us travelling a ton so moving ip into "premier" type levels I'm not to worried about. Just been seeing some real cheap resale pricing which would get us to about 10k annual points total and we're charter membership from initial purchase - wanted to make sure all our combined points could be used anywhere. Again thanks for all y'alls help. Greg

Greg, the only real advantage to having premier level is the ability to get into some of the popular resorts for prime weeks. Resorts like Wilderness club in Branson get booked very quickly. Even with higher premier levels, there is no guarantee that you will get the week you want.
I would guess that you will end up with 12-15K points to be able to use your points at The Fountains, or Shore Crest or resorts in that point range.
There are a lot of good posts in the Bluegreen section of the forum. Keep checking around here and you will pick up a lot of information, probably more than you will get at an 'owner update.Don

To each is own, but I dispute that the only value to premier is getting into popular places at popular times, as that's never my agenda. Certainly it's of value to some people, but I've not used waitlist and likely won't.
There are other discounts and perks in premier. I like the "get a matching reservation" and unit upgrades. Also plan to use discounted Presidential booking at some time.

I have never had the unit upgrade, they have never been available. I stopped looking for it and get the best unit I need. I usually get a 2 bedroom, nicest I can get. I get one room and the DW gets the other room.
I have no idea what the "get a matching reservation" is, so I guess I am not using that either. If it is to get one unit for me, and another for my wife, count me in.Don

We just returned from Orlando (12:30 this AM in fact). We had a great time staying at the fountains. Of course we were the ones going to take advantage of some company's marketing money. However, we did cave at the (high) pressure sales tactics. All in all, we think it is a great deal, if everything works the way we were told - which in reality things seldom do. I do have some observations:
1. Blue Green has a C+ rating with the BBB. I understand that you cannot please all the people all the time and also that 90% of customer who give feedback have negative feedback to give.
2. Along those same lines, a Google search of "bluegreen reviews" and "bluegreen complaints" will offer a plethora of people who have had poor experiences.
3. As i read through this forum, I find many who are extremely satisfied with the product they use, meaning that perhaps much of the negative thought is related to buyer’s remorse, inability to adapt to the system to maximize benefits, or unwillingness to be flexible when necessary to get what they want.
I look forward (and may need) to reading and soliciting advice on how to best capitalize on my BG vacations. We also purchased the 7K EOY point package and received the charter membership.
Regardless of anything else - I will have nice, safe places to take my family on vacation. I agree with one comment I read and really experienced it this past weekend - being in a home is far superior to a hotel!!

I have been Silver or better since 2003 and have never been able to upgrade my reservation to a better unit.
I forgot to ask what the matching reservation is at the owner update.Don

Colin, I think there is some confusion there.
A points reservation is only placed 11 months out. With premier status, you can get on the wait list earlier, up to 15 months out, but the reservation isn't placed until 11 months.
If you are deeded at a resort, you can get that week at 12 months, before the other reservations are placed.
And, points are points. If you buy retail or resale, those points all have the same value and can all be used at the 11 month mark to make a reservation.Don
