  • Finally booked our first trip!!!

The wife booked a trip for us on my birthday weekend in Feb of next year. We got the confirmation email so now I guess it's just a waiting game. Do we need to do anything like call at some point to reconfirm?

Good for you! I just came back from my first BG trip - I was 6 nights oceanfront at Solara Surfside.....pretty darn nice!

A few weeks before you go, you will get a confirmation email with information about your stay. So start doing research about what u want to do in the area you are visiting. Enjoy.

Nope, you're good. Or at least you should be. You've spent the points and you're done unless you want to request a particular unit (best done when you first reserve, I suspect) or if for some reason you want to cancel. With a regular ownership you get the points back if you cancel before... 10 days out? I think? I expect it's the same with a Sampler. Someone at the resort will likely call you the week before you go to try to line up a sales meeting; I know at one point Sampler owners were obligated to go to at least one sales meeting but I don't know if that's still the case.

I think there are a couple of resorts that don't have a sales staff but all the ones I can think of offhand still try to sign up you to see a salesperson elsewhere. *sigh* In our experience you'll get a call before you go and they'll try to sign you up when you get your parking pass and that's the end of it, however we don't tend to answer the unit phone on the theory that anyone we know who is trying to get hold of us would use a cell. But neither does the phone ring constantly -- a couple of resorts you'd get a once-a-day call about the daily events (and in one resort it'd go straight to message rather than the phone actually ringing), but we've never dealt with the constant calls or general sales harassment I've heard about with some systems.

Thanks for the words of encouragement.

Thanks. Looking at the contract it says something about "...if during a sampler member's first stay, within the second year of membership, at one of the Bluegreen vacation club component site resorts listed in para.4 above(this is where it lists in the contract where we can and cannot go while under the sampler package), the sampler member must attend an apporx. 60 minute(yeah, you wish it was 60 mins) owner eligibility presentation...then the $150 resort stay fee shall be waived." Then it goes on to basically if we don't attend the meeting we get hit with the $150 fee.

Hopefully we will have a few trips under our belt, so to speak. We got it in Aug of this year, they said it should take 45 days to get us in the system then we could start booking trips(sounded reasonable at the time). Well we never got anything in the mail nor did we get a call, and to be honest, life kinda took over and we forgot to keep up with them. So fast forward to this month when I had to call them and they got us squared away quickly.

I think I forgot to mention where we will be staying. We will be at the
BLUEGREEN AT ATLANTIC PALACE. Has anyone stayed there before? I tried searching the review section but didn't see anthing for that resort. I'll check it again. Do you think it would be better to give this it's own thread asking for a review of the place?

Yes you are likely to get more information if you post asking about Atlantic Palace on a new thread.

I know Jim stayed there last year and liked the location right on the boardwalk.

Thanks, I think I'll do that.
