Anyone have specifics on this and what a point is worth for paying on MFs?

I am currently Bronze and have wondered about this "perk" and if is worth my money to upgrade for it.

I would not recommend this course of action for anyone. From what I have learned you basically get 50% of what you paid. So for example if you had 10,000 points and your MF's were $1000, those same 10,000 would only pay $500 of your MF's leaving you a balance of $500 still to pay. Hardly seems worth it.

If you are not using your points effectively I would recommend either making reservations for friends and family, attempting to make reservations for rentals, or make weekly reservations and bank this with an exchange company for future use.

I also don't think Bronze gets this "perk". Terrible use of points anyway.

You might find some old messages saying it is a good thing but BG recently changed the value and as everyone else said, it's not worth it.

It's worse than that. BG offers you $.01/point to pay off MF with points. 10000 points has a maintenance fee and taxes of $770 in most cases plus $129 annual dues. BG will giver you $100 for those 10000 points.

You are much better off booking those points into a reservation and putting it on eBay. If you pick a marketable week, you will most likely get way more than $100.

Thanks for your perspective. I 've had some (limited) success renting points to pay off MFs since I 'm not eligible for the "pay with points"- one person became a BG owner.

It used to be a viable option till the recession hit
But BG had it covered with the we reserve the right to change clause
So its still possible but not worth it atm
