  • Question

    Hi,

I was picked up by one of the body snatchers at Myrtle Beach over New Years and ended up becoming a charter member but like others I have read about I am now thinking about canceling it before the 5 day period runs out. My main question is if I cancel and Then one day at a better time want to get back on the program with Bluegreen can I and still get all the benefits of what they call a charter member? Mainly stuff like bonus points? They made it sound like that day was the only time I could ever get that offer. I like the idea of time share but I really cant plan very far in advnce right now so I do a lot of last minute vacations and I'm finding out that is not good for TS. Hopefully in a few years thing will settle down and it would be better for me.

Thanks for any help I can get!

    Brad,

to TS4Ms. Yes do rescind. You will find a lot of Bluegreen people that are very happy with the product here. They will help you find your way to the right solution for you if BG is what you decide upon.

Rarely is developer pricing worth the so called benefits they are selling you and I will guarantee that deal will be available to you tomorrow and 6 months from now.

Follow the rescision instructions to the letter. Send it return receipt and make sure you send everything they gave you by the deadline.

Thanks for the quick response. So I should send the bag they gave me with all the books, etc. back to the corporate address? In the letter I should just say that I have chosen my right to cancel? The New Year holiday has taken away an extra day so I have to overnight everything tomorrow!!

      Thanks again for the advice

I would send everything, bag , books to the address in your paperwork. and yes the letter can be very short and sweet. The cost of overnight mail is a pittance compared to the amount you will save in the long run.

        Happy New Year.

If you paid the "body snatcher" more than for $1.25 per point you can get the same thing from BocaBum99(Jim) or Pinnacle Vacation for about $1.25 per point. Jim is great to work with!!! So if you paid more than $1.25 I would encourage you to rescind. If you don't care about all the 'charter benefits' you can pick up the points for next to nothing. There even some who will give you their points if you pay the $250-$500 transfer fee if you wait a little while
I would encourage you to read through this website and consider joining Yahoo Bluegreen Group as well. Become well informed before you purchase something again "so you know all the "ins & outs"". Because there are some "tricks" to what you purchase, be CAREFUL what you would buy on ebay or some other place because you could end up paying more in annual maintenance fees than you would have to. I have owned Bluegreen for most of a decade and love it! However, some I had to learn the hard way. It is a great system if you can be flexible and PLAN, PLAN, PLAN ahead.
Send everything they gave you back...including the used bubble gum with wrapper. I would make copy of contract...but rescind.....

Thanks again for all the advice. By body snatcher I mean the people that sign you up for one of the sales pitch deals. They give you around 100 dollars worth of stuff to get you to come to the pitch, then they promise you the world and tell you that its a one time offer and you can never have that deal again. I knew that I wasn't ready to commit to it but didn't want to loose all the benefits. If I buy from from someone else like bocabum will I still be able to stay for the 69 dollars a night after I use up all my points? Thanks again for the help. I'm going to overnight everything back tomorrow and do a lot more research before I commit.

Everyone knew what you meant by "body snatcher". It is a good term. The next term you might encounter is "sales critter". The word "critter" is NOT used to make the term asexual.

If you buy from Bocabum at $1.25 / point you will get Bonus Time. Jim (Bocabum) is very upright and easy to work with. He would rather lose a sale then to sell something that does not provide what the buyer wants and expects. I would suggest that if Bonus Time is critical to you (and it appears that it really is), that you simply buy the smallest package he has to offer that will provide Bonus Time and then purchase other points as your needs and ability to long term plan change. As has been clearly pointed out, you can buy points for little or nothing. Unfortunately my Crystal Ball is in the shop and I can't predict when resale prices will start going up.

Some people have been very successful with obtaining reservations very late. They are often flexible and count on cancellations. I do not know if one can get on a "wait list" 1-2 months out but if so, one would get first crack at a cancellation before it would appear on Bonus Time. If that works, then you could pick up cheap points and avoid the $1.25 / point cost.

I would also encourage you to join the Bluegreen Yahoo Group and the BluegreenExchange Yahoo Group. I also would recommend that you spend some time on the TUG website as part of your information gathering.

Just saw the following on the BG Yahoo Group:

"I just cancelled a reservation for MLK weekend in a three bedroom townhome if anyone is looking for that time frame."

Thanks again for the help. I sent all the materials back to bluegreen today with a cancel letter. Going to spend some time researching everything and then make a decesion.

                  Thanks again!
