  • Difference between Oasis Lakes & The Fountains

Does anybody know what the difference is between RCI resorts #'s 7605 for The Fountains and # 4852 Oasis Lakes at the Fountains?

When I look on the BG website it doesn't differentiate the two. Is it the same place? Do they share the amenities? Do they really have an indoor pool for winter? Is one section nicer than the other? The rooms look really, really nice on the website. Are those just the Presidential units or do the regular rooms really look that nice?

I'm debating on staying at Oasis Lakes for my December Disney trip and having an indoor pool option would be nice since I'm no polar bear.

Any opinions from anyone who has stayed there recently? Thanks.

Oasis Lakes is the original name of the resort. It is building 3 and 4 at the Fountains. The Oasis Lakes 2br sleeps 8 unit (aks Superior unit vs. Luxury) are highly sought after because the floor plans are very spacious.

Oasis Lakes you stay in one of the two original buildings that frame the clubhouse and look out on lake Eve; the Fountains is the stuff Bluegreen built after they bought it out. They share all amenities and are essentially the same resort. There's a heated indoor/outdoor pool at the clubhouse. I believe all the 1 BRs are at Oasis Lakes. The 2 BRs that sleep six at Oasis Lakes are smaller than the 2 BRs that sleep six in the rest of the resort; the 2 BRs that sleep 8 are larger. The Presidential units are in the Fountains. All the Oasis Lakes units were redone a year or two back.

Do you mean the pics at the BG site?

        Bluegreen Corporation

The first "2 Bd 2 Ba Standard or Deluxe" pic (#8) sure looks to me like the bigger Oasis Lake unit (sleeps 8), as do the BR and bath, but I'm not sure about the kitchen because it was seriously reconfigured since we've been there. I have some gripes about some of the changes but most of them are that it's less appealing for our family of 7, so probably not pertinent for you.

Hopefully Philip will show up and post for you, since he bought in when it was still Oasis Lakes, knows all about them, and has stayed in the OL units since they were refurbished.

Yeah, it's awfully pretty on the BG website.
It has a great location too. I saw it last time I was in Orlando and I like that area of I-Drive. It's quieter and closer to everything that I want to do so it's a bargain if it has an indoor pool too.

It's only 4 of us so we won't have the issue of the configuration changes. I'm sure it will be fine.

I like the location and loved looking out at the lake, however the lower units might be noisier than ours and we usually had to park by building 5 (we were in bldg 4 and I think people park there to be close to the clubhouse). But if you're cool with DVC parking those extra few feet will be noooo problem. And I doubt it ever gets as noisy as some of the DVC resorts. It's a nice place.

              Hi,

Most has already been said lol

Oasis lakes Resort was the original name of the resort we bought back in 1999 The original developer was Lake Eve Developments made up of Emmersion ( UK building group and Airtours UK Holiday company ) they spit because Airtours wanted a pool for every 2 buildings and emerson want to add more buildings. It was sold to Bluegreen in Sept 2003 (airtours got into money troubles they bought into Carnival and they also bought a little known US travel firm called My Travel and renamed for whole group My Travel ).
So the original Oasis Lakes Resort was Building 3 and 4 with the clubhouse in the middle (the clubhouse use to be out of this world untill Bluegreen got hold of it RIP the original clubhouse)
There are no 1 bed units, all are 2 bed apart from 2 x 3 bed in Building 3 these are on the either end of the top floor all the other units trade as 6 but the bigger ones will sleep 8 (the smaller units are at either end of the building floors 1-5 building 3, floors 1-6 building 4 and are units number 1 and 6 )
The Oasis Lakes pool is the indoor/outdoor one which is heated and in cold weather the indoor part can be enclosed there is also a large indoor hot tub and a smaller outdoor hot tub (nr building 3) and a kiddies pool nr building 4, the bottom level of the clubhouse contains the pool bar, the fitness room both gents and ladies changing rooms that have (or did have) lockers and showers. Looking at the bar from the pool the sauna is to your right and the steam room to your left.
Building 3 was redone last year and building 4 is being refitted now IMHO they could have made a better job, they are nice but not the wow factor the original units had back in 1999, the bigger units do sleep 8 but the new dinning table only seats 5 the main balcony has lost its 2 sun loungers and now only has seating for 4, the masterbed balcony has lost all its furniture.
There is now an odd sliding door to the masterbed (reminds me of the fire doors at work ... I work in the textile industry in an old mill lol) and gone are the carpets, they do not have as much storage space as they once did which also makes the look short of furniture. Now that I have pulled them to pieces they are still the best units a lot of space a large balcony that wonderful view over the lake and you can still sit on your balcony and watch the fireworks at Seaworld.
A lot of water has gone under the bridge since those Oasis Lakes days, many a time we have been the only 4 in that big pool (only 70 units in total lol), no traffic noise (Oasis Lakes was the only place built down that end of I Drive, thats why the I ride stop is right outside the preview centre) no "people" noise just peice and quite
One of the only remaining reminders of the original resort is OLR in the bottom of the pool (stand on the balcony of the clubhouse and look down into the pool.
Well sorry for the long post but those were the days to remember

              Phillip

Yeah I like the location too.
I don't worry about parking, I've got a handicap decal so it's usually not an issue.

I'm sure I'll like the resort too. Shoot I even like Westgate.

So I booked it already thanks to the positive vibe here. It only sleeps 6 so I guess I got a smaller unit.

Since I think I'm going off season I'm gonna try and sweet talk myself into an upgraded unit when I get there. What do you think the chances of that for December 7th? Shouldn't be too crowded right?

Well you sure added more than I ever thought I wanted to know about Oasis. Sounds like the typical developer disaster but I'm glad the resort is still doing well, at least it looks like it is.

                  Thanks Phillip.

It wasn’t a developer disaster Airtours were strapped for cash and had to sell an asset to stay afloat.
I don’t believe the resort was ever losing money.
The resort has lost the exclusive feel that it used to have, maybe that’s a good thing.

Having more than one RCI Number at one resort is not an isolated case. Pono Kai, for instance, has three RCI numbers, 0525, 2487, and 2491.

Some day you will manage to drill this into my brain. No idea why I decided there were 1 BRs there at some point, but it does seem to stick!

                            Another question about Oasis Lakes

I have a rather dumb question and I'm sure I know the answer to it. I read on the BG site that there were screened in porches so I assumed they all were that way. Now that we are booked in to Oasis Lakes on the 6th floor I'm wondering if they are screened in. Everywhere I look I see balcony and nothing about it being screened in.
I happened to come upon this forum doing a search and it looks like everyone here knows a lot about them. I'm sure it will be ok but we do have 3 small kids so it makes me a little nervous at the same time however I'm sure we will be able to keep an eye on them.
                            Thank you so much.

                              Hi,

the main balcony is screened which is very large on those units however since the refurb they now only have a small table and only four chairs, the smaller balcony from the master bed only had a screen on the sliding door but we were in building 3 last year and the screen was no longer there, it was never of much use so maybe they never replaced it if it got broke.

Which building are you in ? 3 ( Friday change over for Oasis Lakes flex week owners)was refurb. last year and 4 (sat change over) has been done this year, building 4 is the one next to the kids pool. Both buildings overlook lake Eve and you can watch the fireworks at Seaworld each night
