  • Can deeds be combined anymore?

My wife and I are thinking of picking up some more points on the secondary market. One of the things that is kind of holding us back is paying the 325 twice if I have 2 deeds.

During our last update, (yeah, those!), we were told that BG was discontinuing combining deeds. I currently have 11K deeded @ Shen, and for example, if I picked up 7K @ Laural Crest, would BG charge me the full MF on both, or how would that work...

what would my options be to get them combined if I did indeed pick up a few more?

    Thanks!

I think you were, and use the term loosely "misinformed" (I do not like to use the word lied to). I have 4 contracts in total, all at different resorts. It is my understanding that as long as they are all in Trust Fund E you only pay the $320 once. The deeds themselves are not combined, just the memberships in one account.

They tried telling me at an update that I would have to pay the $320 4 times because I bought resale but if I upgraded that would not be the case. Of course, MF's came around, and I only paid one base fee (thanks TS4MS members!)

Yep, for all points ownerships you own that are in the same trust, you only pay the base fee once. No matter whether they were purchased from BG or resale.

Sometimes the trouble on resale points is finding out which trust they are in.

        Thanks for the info all...

If anyone knows of, or hears of 7 - 10K annual points that someone wants to dump, in trust E....I'm interested.

I don't think you were misinformed. To me the term "combining deeds" refers to the practice of BG giving you 21,000 points in Trust Fund E if you turned in, for example, 6,000 points in Trust Fund D, 7,000 points in Trust Fund C, and 5,000 points in Trust Fund B and purchased 3,000 additional points. They used to do that but don't, to my knowledge, do that anymore.

Good point, and I did no think of it that way. However that would have also required him probably to buy authorized points directly through BG which IMO would not have been worth it any ways.

I did point out that they had to buy additional points. Some years back I did this and it took me 5.2 years of MF savings to recoup the upfront cost of the additional points I had to purchase from BG. So now I essentially have those extra points free and my MF are lower than if I hadn't combined. Of course I was moving points backed up by Trust Funds A, B, C, and/or D into Trust Fund E. Astute timing (others call it dumb luck) worked for us.
