  • Has anyone booked with Select Connections?

How did it go for you?
Any hints on upside/downside of dealing with them.
How was the Shell Vacations resort itself?
    Appreciate any advice or stories.

    Pat A.

    Welcome to TS4Ms.
I am a BGVC owner but have not tried this yet. Lawren who is another moderator here frequently books SC without difficulty. Especially if u r able to book at the 8 month mark.

Overall SVC has a good reputation in terms of quality so I would feel confident in booking. I especially like that it gives BG owners access to west coast resorts.

One drawback is not being able to book online but others see this as a good thing

      Hi and

I book a bit of the Shell inventory from Bluegreen. You can book at 240 days before check-in. The properties are all upscale ( except for Peacock and as long as you know what you are getting that's fine as well) and there seems to be good availability.

If I can answer any specific questions I would be happy to oblige if I know the answer.

My one and only select connections is what made me purchase SVC.

Carriage Hills is close to me, so when given the opportunity before I purchased that was how I visited.

I have yet to visit any of the other SVC resorts but will be heading to New Hampshire in April.

          SVC Mexico

          Hi Pat,

I have not had any issues getting availability to any of the SVC resorts I searched, but I have requested non peak vacation times. I have only booked one stay. Availability has been good for Whistler, Anaheim, and Mexico. I haven't had them look at any other locations. It is an easy process if you have time to wait on the phone.

I would not recommend the SVC Plaza Pelicanos Resort in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico if you are expecting much. It not awful, but it is nowhere near upscale either. They have a much nicer resort next door that BG does not have access to yet... I am not sure of the name, but it is several stories higher than PP. There is also a hotel type (non timeshare) all inclusive resort bearing the same PP name next door that is worse. It is not affiliated with Shell, but they share some amenities.

I am staying at Peacock Suites in early June. So, Lawren, do I need to change my reservation? I read several mixed reviews, but we are only staying 4 nights.

Mark I wouldn't change your plans. The SVC units are generally in better condition than just regular Peacock. I would bet the worse reviews are people that are not informed that there is just micro, coffee maker and mini-fridge. There is a mandatory $10 + Tax/day valet parking fee and the rooms are tight. 1BR = 425 sq ft.

As I said, as long as you are aware of what you are getting the place is fine and has a great location.

I have booked using select connections twice. The first time was for my sister to stay a few nights in Phoenix at the one on the south side (Legacy Golf Resort or something like that). She doesn't golf, (she and my niece were doing college visits in the area, Arizona State is about 15 minutes away) but enjoyed the place very much. The second use is for an upcoming stay in Honolulu. In both cases the reservation process is straightforward and the Travelers Plus people were great.

Thanks for everyone's responses. We're not ready to book anywhere just yet, but all this information will be a big help when we are ready (in about 6 months!)
