Are you willing to pay the transfer fee? We are interested, as we have 9,000 bi-annual points and are deeded at Pigeon Forge as well.

If I remember rightly, yes you can, but the points are pricey. Annual owners can buy into the next year and combine points that way but I don't believe that's possible with biennial.

With biennial, you get all the points the first year. At the end of the first year, and if you have that many left, half of them "roll over," meaning you can only use them for red season or lower. At the end of the second year, any unused points expire and you get a new batch.

So if you want to use them all in a high red or higher season, you must do it the first year. Or you can use half of them in any season the first year, and the other half in red or lower the second year (some of the older resorts don't go above red, so it's possible to do this with two summer vacations if desired).

          Thank you,

For every other year points you get half one year and half the other year. However, you can borrow and save so you can use them in either year. The points are good for any resort in the BG system.

So even though you have a 10k every other yr 'deal', you get 5k each year, not 10k all at once? When you say "borrow", do you mean they let you borrow from points you will get in the future or from other members etc?

We are able to use all 10,000 points whenever we choose. We don't have to split them 5,000 one year & 5,000 the next... we get 10,000 every other year in Sept... ie: we get them in 2011, 2013, etc... to use at our leisure.

We accumulate the points in 2011, 2013, etc... but we can use them when ever we choose... we just have to use them by Sept 1st 2013 which is when we get 10,000 more points.

We just paid the maintenance fees which is $545 in full Nov 15th 2011, so the taker is receiving 10,000 points available for use right now through Sept 1st 2013, which is when you receive the next 10,000 points, the points are also transferable to RCI which gives you hundreds more resorts to choose from... so our hope is that the taker will pay the transfer fee, which is $250 through Bluegreen.

                        Beat me to it

Won't get in a bidding war, so if you decide against this let me know and perhaps I will take them.

Sorry, I messed up here. Only half of the original roll over at the end of the first year; if you had only half left at the end of the first year, they would all be good in any season.

And, yes, you get all the points the first year.

I am totally a newbie on this forum. I do not have a time share, but I know a few people that do. My husband and I are looking into timeshares, and I am reading up on everything before we commit. So my question to you is: if you are giving away your bluegreen timeshare, is timeshare bad???

                            thanks

It depends on your situation. A timeshare is not for everyone. I would suggest you read some threads, and ask some questions, get opinions, then make a decision. A timeshare requires a certain commitment to planning, and a level of flexibility. Do you have kids, or can you travel in the offseason? Are you set on one certain area, or are you looking for a system that allows you to travel to different places.

A timeshare can be great, or a burden, it all depends on how you use it.

                              Greg

At the beginning of your 2 year cycle you automatically get 5,000 points. However, you can borrow your second 5,000 points at that time. At the present time there is no fee for borrowing but there is a fee for saving points. You cannot "borrow" points from another member.
