  • New guy here, and a very lucky one I must add

So I am Srinath from Charlotte NC.
I got suckered into the blue green thing and went to the presentation @ harbour lights in Myrtle beach. That after paying 199 for that + a cruise and when trying to book, BG repeatedly said they refunded the $$$ not once, but 3 times, cos we opened a dispute with our credit card when they didn't send us the paperwork nearly a year ago. So 3 months of credit receipt checking later when we finally were certain no refund was done we had the rep on the phone check with someone/something and finally no it wasn't refunded for some reason ... and sorry we cant give you refund, cos you're past the 30 days ...
    And
oops you have 2 weeks to use it or you lose the $.

Right there I decided these fools aint getting my more of my $.

Then I have no idea what is in store so we go to myrtle beach. Then we go to the wrong place where that lady in the office blurts out yes you would have to go there for checking in, you come to the sales presentation here tomorow.
I go ok cool, I google "bluegreen presentation" and run into many many sites as well as ebay links where I find 10,000 points or more going to 40 bucks or less.
I print it out and hold on to it, cos by now the wife is melting over the thing ... completely forgetting the grudge we had against them ...

So the big slide show and presentation is done, and the wife is now turned to mush ...
sales guy shows up, 20,000 points 30g ... yadda yadda yadda, and I promptly turn the print out I have onto the table, lets see, 10000 points 40 bucks and it didn't sell in 3-4 weeks.
There I stop the wife and the sales guy.

OK so now I am about to pull the trigger on 10K for 40 bucks. Only transfer due for 10 months, next maintenance due in nov.

The basic idea is, with that $40 and transfer cost buy in, is what I am looking @ ...

Is there any other hidden costs in it.

Is there a daily use, bonus night purchase, the grand yacht club, the travel plus and whatever else offered @ sales - do they come on to a second owner @ resale.

Also If I decide to get rid of it, can I drop it off @ the nearest charity or do I need to actually sell it ad have it transfered out of my name. Do they ding your credit for not paying the dues or is the damage limited to the access to time share.

    Thanks guys.
    Srinath.

Is there a trust fund that is better

Is it better to be in trust E vs A vs D etc, and what is the sale type - I only see Y I am not sure what that is.
And why is everything deeded to a red week, and none to a blue or a white ? Atleast the ebay sales that I see are.
      Thanks.

        Welcome!!

Resale does not come with the extra's. But 30K can make up for alot of bonus time

When it comes time to get rid of it, you will prob have to pay any fee's.

        Hope this helps

Charities will only take donations that they think are worth something.
You are obligated to make payments and can't get out from them unless someone else is willing to take them over.

              Got it.

OK got it, so I now kow if it was free, it could still be too much.
I guess not if you are sure to use it.
              Thanks so much.
              Cool.

The only "hidden cost" is that it may be tough to get rid of. Which is a lot easier if you're willing to give it away, but that could change if the market gets worse or BG changes some policy or whatever.

With resales you get the points, RCI, and bonus time at the home resort, and that's it. No bells and whistles unless you pay over a dollar a point to BG (although you can do that without jumping through the sales hoops via someone associated with Pinnacle, like Boca Bum).

Points in Trust Fund E seem to resell slightly better, and I think it's easier to find more of them. There's some variation in your payments, depending on your Trust Fund, but for most people where Trust Fund is most crucial is in combining points; if you figure on ever getting more points, you want one of the larger Trust Funds so they'll combine properly and keep your MFs down.

                  Oh will this work.

OK can we split points from a purchase, like I buy 20 from a 3000 lot ?
Or when we are @ BG resort/sales and with our resale points, and they pull us into a sales schpeel, can I buy 10 -20 points from them.
Something like that would entitle me to the rest of the perks - and I can get around the $1 a pt for the 10,000.
                  Thanks guys.

Points are tied to deeds, and I doubt you will find one for less then 3000 points.

If you will learn how to use the BG system, and use it to take vacations, then timesharing is probably for you.

Buying direct from BG you will not get below a $1.80 per point purchase price, and you'd have to buy a large number of points to get that price.

If you want to get the perks like Travelers Plus, bonus nights, etc., you can buy resale points from Pinnacle Vacations but you must pay a minimum of $1.25 per point. If you want the perks and want to buy resale I suggest you contact BocaBum on this board who can help with purchasing from Pinnacle.
