  • Best way to exchange into DVC

One thing that I am thinking of is in a couple years, we would like to take our grand kids to Disney. We've done both Orlando BG resorts, and was playing with staying onsite.

Has anyone successfully done this through RCI? I have searched the inventory, and very occasionally see a DVC resort available.

    Any tips or tricks?

      Amen!!!

When DVC first came to RCI, I could see them all, and with one deposit.

Kissed that goodbye November 16, 2010.

Good question. I am thinking that you might only see RCI Points deposits. We do have a wonderful member that tracks the weeks deposits here:http://www.timeshareforums.com/forum...uary-12-a.html but I have not played enough with the BG portal to know if you see weeks or points on DVC. Also don't know if RCI Points tracks along with weeks deposits.

That wasn't very helpful was it. Sorry I usually have a good answer.

You need someone like gandalf to come along. He owns BG AND is looking for a Dis property.

If Bluegreen's portal supports an ongoing search, use it. That's the best shot you'll have. It will also help to be flexible about either resort choice, date, or both. But, the units do come and go fairly regularly---it is not that hard of an exchange.

Bluegreen uses a fixed-grid mini-system portal. If BG's works like everyone else's, they average an entire area together, so you'd pay the same thing for a DVC exchange as you would for, say, Vacation Village @ Parkway.

In other words, the Weeks TPU values have no impact on the mini-systems.

Oh, kinda like the old 1 for 1 model that is so mourned around here.

No, it's still point-based. But, it over-averages, so it is almost as inefficient (in an economic sense) as the old one-for-one model.

One of the times I seen it available was a two bdrm @ animal kingdom, was for 11K BG points for a week. I thought that was reasonable, since it was right on park.

Yeah, that was my point but you put is so much more eloquently than I.

we have successfully made a trade, last March, for Beach Club Villas. My advice, put in an ongoing search early. Be as flexible as you can. By that I mean, the longer a date range you can live with the better, and try for multiple resorts. In our case we asked for Beach Club or Boardwalk, and we had a six-week range for our one week trade.

And we had a GREAT time. There is no comparison between staying on and off site.

I haven't been around long enough to understand all the fancy jargon , but it sounds like you are saying they are screwing over their longtime Weeks members in favor of their new(er) BG ones.

Like I said before, when DVC first came to RCI, I could see everything available with any one of a few of our deposits.

I just looked, and to get anything in DVC now it would take three of our best deposits. In dollars and cents, that would be about $2500.

Sure there is. For some, the comparison might be stark, but you can make it. (And, honestly, we don't find it to be all that different provided you have a well-located spot to perch.)
