  • A compliment to Club 36 General Manager

We are booked into Club 36 in Vegas in March. As we were getting closer, I wanted to try to get a room on the strip view side of the resort. I know we can't try to book a certain room, but figured we were fine in trying to get a wing and maybe a floor.

When I contacted BG by email, I received an email back where I was told we were on 5th floor with 'no view' (their description). They must have blind copied Club 36 as I received an email from them the next day saying they had received the request and would see what they could do.

I explained what we had hoped to get, a couple emails later, we are on the strip view side. A big Thank You to the Club 36 General Manager for making it happen.

Once upon a time, I was told that reservations are sent to the resort 10 days before the check in. Had it been true, the first email to BG should have been enough to get that set up. This is obviously wrong or has changed since I was told that. It was emails to the resort that got us what we wanted.

Another thing I learned from this experience is that I will no longer book online. I will make that phone call and talk with someone, let them know exactly what I hope to get and verify they understand.

Also Good Results at Club 36

We are also going to stay at Club 36 in March for the NASCAR Nationwide race on March 10th. This is our 3rd stay. We have never been disappointed with this facility and our two requests were met with one full view of the strip and one partial view of the strip. You are right to call ahead and talk with the resort.

If you have not been there before, it is about 3/4 mile walk to the MGM and the strip. We usually drive as there is ample parking with each resort. Please let us know if we can provide any additional info....other than gambling as I am the biggest loser in any game of chance (my wife puts me of a very small allowance after she saw my meager results).

I have been there once, a 2 night stay while attending a seminar/class nearby. This will be the first extended trip and the first for the DW.

It looks like we will be there at least part of the time that you are there. We check in on the 9th.

The DW wants to do the art museum at one of the resorts and 'has to get the picture of the sign' for her scrap booking addiction, I have nothing that is on my must do list. We will do the normal touristy stuff, strip, Hoover dam, etc.

Things You May Want to Do

Your wife will like the garden inside the Bellagio and the inside gondola ride at the Venetian. The Grand Canyon trip to the glass overlook is interesting. It takes about a day to do this and it will may cooler than Las Vegas because of the elevation (dress in layers). The tour bus will pick you at right at the front door. The sign is always interesting....it seems there is always an 'Elvis' availabel for pictures. We liked the Cirque de Solei shows .... Mystere, O and KA. My wife's favorite was O as it had all the water features. You can go down to the 'old' Las Vegas on Fremont Street. It has a great overhead light show at night. Have fun!

In our exchanging days(years), when I saw something we wanted online at resorts I know confirm by exact unit, rather than by assignment, I would put it on hold, then call a Guide and ask what unit number it was.

If it did not meet our criteria, say if it was a dumpster or parking lot view, I would let it go.

I always preferred confirming for an exact unit, because of the certainty, but was fairly fortunate at resorts that assign (orange lake, poipu point . . .)

I can't recall ever not getting the specific unit traded for.
