  • Buying BlueGreen ONLY for Suites at Hershey?

Does this make any sense at all? Have the Suites at Hershey ever sold fixed or floating weeks or have they always been points? I did buy a resort in the "Starwood" System, but i bought it for the floating week & I don't get any StarPoints....I own a Wyndham Resort, But its a Fixed week and not in the "Fairshare Plus" points System

Is there a way to buy the Suites at Hershey without buying into the whole "BlueGreen" System?

Not sure if they do fixed weeks there, but I don't think so. I'm also not sure how mf for fixed weeks compares to points BGVC points mf so that is something to look into as well.

If they don't have fixed weeks, you could still buy a week there and use it as a week that uses all of your points vs using the points elsewhere. You would get some extra benefits that you might not care about, but would also be able to claim your week every year. Like a fixed week with flexibility. There would be the club dues which are $130ish annually.

Not sure if fixed weeks come with Bonus Time, but if you are near enuf to go frequently/want to go frequently, then you could supplement your owned week with extra cash stays (2 nite min/3 nt for holidays)

I believe building 1 was built and selling before Bluegreen bought in, but I haven't heard of any owners who didn't convert to points. I'm guessing they would have a fixed week if you could track one down.

If you buy BG points there, then you have first rights to the underlying week 13 months to 12 months out -- if you have not claimed it by 11 months out it will go into the common pool then. So in that sense it would be a fixed week. And, as BoardGirl points out, you should be able to rent bonus time there even if your points aren't "authorized" (i.e., if they're regular ol' resale points). Bonus time is greatly discounted cash reservations that, if you reserve on the Internet, are available 48 days out, I think it is.

Holding onto your own week you're guaranteed to get it; renting with points your odds are pretty good if you're reserving 11 months out; bonus time is the iffy-est, but can be a good deal off season.

Do a search OY with the key word Hershey from user janej. She purchased one off ebay in 2009. Summer is a fairly long float season but if you call exactly 12 months and prepay your MF I think you can get most any week. Summer weeks are about $200-$300 less deeded directly w/o BG points. They don't come up on ebay too often. They almost always go for $1000+ plus closing costs. I believe you would only be able to use it as a full week and could not do split weeks.

Previously, the resort was sold as floating usage, with a very few select event weeks that were fixed (one I'm aware of related to a car show in the area). The Platinum floats have good resale value..

All units are standard 2br villas.

Because of the lack of timeshares in the area- these have always been good exchangers.
