  • Fountains through RCI question

Just trying to figure things out on this. Any help is appreciated.
I have 13,000 points. That is basically enough to get 6 nights at the Fountains (2 brm) if I go through my Bluegreen account.

When I look on RCI, I see I can get a full 7 nights (2 brm) for 11,000 of my bluegreen points. I am trying to get my head around this. What am I missing? Why would a full week through RCI cost me less points than 6 nights through BG?

It's that way with alot of the portals like Hilton and Wyndham.
Don't ask why just book it.

BTW, I booked a Fountains unit for 10 TPU's for December, so if you have something other than BG points to trade in RCI it might make sense to use that instead.

Essentially, each system---either internal booking or external exchange---is attempting to match (more or less) what market rental rates look like. But, neither system is perfectly fluid, and so there are some inefficiencies in each "market". When you see something like this, (a) book it and enjoy and (b) don't assume it will always be there.

          Wow!

          Beyond belief!

I have said that for years, that often when you match market rental values, a prime ski week studio is worth more than a 3-bedroom most weeks in Orlando. Or, a lesser, motel-conversion resort in SW FL in Snowbird Season.

But, some folks (here) never saw it that way. RCI seems to have . . . well, previously.

I assume there still is ?

Just a smartass, uninformed answer, but if it is RCI there has to be a fee. I looked up fee in the dictionary, and it said:

fee   /fi/ Show Spelled [fee] Show IPA noun, verb, feed, fee·ing.
              noun
              1. a charge or payment for professional services: a doctor's fee.
              2. a sum paid or charged for a privilege: an admission fee.
              3. a charge allowed by law for the service of a public officer.
              4. Law .
              a. an estate of inheritance in land, either absolute and without limitation to any particular class of heirs (fee simple) or limited to a particular class of heirs (fee tail).
              b. an inheritable estate in land held of a feudal lord on condition of the performing of certain services.
              c. a territory held in fee.
              5. a gratuity; tip.
              See RCI

What it is for your system I don't know.

When you say book it - I assume you mean book it with RCI?
I have never gone through RCI - what is the booking fee? Where do I find that on their site?

$180ish. I forget the exact number.

That's a good point, though: how much are the 2K BG points and the extra night worth to you? If more than $180ish, then use RCI. If less than $180ish, don't.

RCI Exchange through Bluegreen Timeshare Reviews & Information

How much the exchange fee is seems to be a pretty difficult google.

                        It Depends.

Weeks Exchange vs RCI Points vs RCI Nightly Stays

Latter I think was $79, but watch for resort cleaning fees.

For weeks, it's whatever the standard exchange is now. $179???

RCI points for a week, I do not know.

Just go thru your BG account to the RCI/BG portal and that should give you all the BG/RCI specific info.
