Interval International Exchanges via BG

I am considering joining II to exchange into a Marriott ski resort for week 53. Has anyone had any success getting good exchanges into high end resorts at peak times? I have seen good UDI exchanges, but I am looking for success with BG points weeks deposited for exchanges since I don't have a UDI. They do not have to be Marriotts or ski weeks, just trying to get a feel for what else is available with II but not showing up on ExOps. I thought these weeks may be already taken by Marriott owners or ongoing searches. Can I get good exchanges for free white or blue weeks like I used to do with RCI?

We are planning on a November trip to Aruba also and thought we might add to our LaCabana time. I am contemplating buying with Marriott or another higher end group if II is unsuccessful. Any tip is appreciated.

I would not expect to trade into a Marriott week 53 ski resort through II, and definitely not with a non-Marriott. Hopefully others will chime in on your other desires, but the best way to trade into Marriott prime time is with a Marriott.

If your November Aruba trip is not for Thanksgiving, you should do ok, but I wouldn't limit the search to Marriott.

I agree with Glitter that it will be extremely difficult, if not impossible to get a Marriott Ski Week, wk 53 with a non Marriott. Tahoe has a better chance than Park City, and a studio has a much better chance than a 1 or 2 bdrm. Still, I wouldn't count on it......You have a good chance of getting a non Marriott in Tahoe, tho. Also, Breckenridge and Vail are possibilities. Again, even looking for a non-Marriott Park City would be more difficult.

A fall week in Aruba is doable with a non Marriott. Aruba is very difficult from mid-December to mid April. Summer and holidays are also popular, but they are gettable, as well, IMO.

You need to make a reservation with BG for a high demand, high quality resort for the unit size you want to get from II.
An example would be to reserve a July 4th 1BR at Harbor Lights (Gold "Premier" Resort) and deposit it at 10 months out - when reserving you must tell BG u r going to deposit (to a company other then RCI) so they give u a 'triangulated' week - a resie that actually corresponds with a deeded week.

You then will be able to trade for other Gold and Silver resorts for a 1BR unit, possibly a 2BR.

I took my 'free' 2BR white week at Shenandoah Crossing Resort • SND and traded it for a 1BR Marriott Harbor Lake (Orlando) in late February. I felt this was good value.

Marriott to Marriott exchanges have a 24 day preference so what u will get even with an ongoing search is the leftovers - but a search is the best way to go.

I am looking with a 3BR free white standard resort and am seeing studios including Presidents week at Grand Timber Lodge (Gold)

II info

Do any other chains get first dibs at II deposits like Marriott? What is an AC? Does II give extra trading power for larger units?

Angie,Glitter, and Pat, thanks for the responses and the search.

Pat, I can't justify spending that much for another TS, but I appreciate the offer. I think I will join with just BG to get a feel for II first. I was happy getting the Sweetwater Lift Lodge in Park City via RCI, but my wife is more particular. She said it was "fine", but that doesn't necessarily translate to Webster's definition of fine. I think she would be happy with the Grand Timber Lodge in Breckenridge. I was hoping for St. James Place in Beaver Creek, which was available last minute for Presidents' week this year. She was still nursing a ski injury from December though, or we would have taken it then. I really want a ski in ski out, but I would be happy with a short walk if staying in a nice place.
