I'm pretty sure that if you own a fixed week at PK you can get bonus time that comes from the whole resort - not just the Bluegreen inventory. Make sure that you push the option for "Pono Kai" owners on the BG reservation line.

Bedroom and one EOY two bedroom units there. I may pick up a third one bedroom but I was thinking
Of some Bluegreen points also. I plan to spend six to eight weeks a year at Pono Kai when I retire.

For the Bluegreen points, can you check the availability online or would I have to call in?
I can make my PK reservations by calling Bluegreen at 12 months out and I always get what I want.

Yes, That's correct. I have used the bonus time with my weeks a few times to add a few days on to my stay. As a weeks owner I can only make my reservation through the "Pono Kai Owners" option. It does work great and I'm really happy with the ownership. I may still buy some Bluegreen points in the future. I think the flexibility would be nice. Right now exchanging a week once in awhile works well.
