Great product unfortunately not the best sales tactics, I hope one day they change the way they compensate the sales reps so the owners can get the quality representation they deserve. Anyway if I can help let me know.

FYI I worked in Charleston SC

We bought into the every other year / 6000 point deal back in 2008. We are now being told if we don't go further in debt our maintenance fees are going to double. This is because this plan no longer exists. We weren't told in the beginning that this was starter deal and was meant for upgrade. We sat through a two and a half hour waste of our time today to find this out. We have only been able to use it once in the five years we've had it and weren't satisfied with Harbour Lights at all. We asked if they would buy it back and they said no, that they used to but it is illegal now. We were willing to give it back and they wouldnt' do that either. Just kept making us feel stupid because we didn't want to get deeper in debt for something we don't use. We can no longer afford this "vaction." How do we legally get out of it? Any help will be greatly appreciated. My wife was almost to the point of tears during most of it.

I have always wondered how salesmen were compensated. Were you on commission, salary + commission, or another formula? I have thought that there needed to be a formula that would create an honest diologue between salesmen and consumer.

They lied to you. Your mntnce fees are going up but it's charged per point, buying more does not mean you pay less per point. There is one club fee and buying more points spreads the club fee out further if you average your cost with your total # of points.

But it sounds like your not using what you have and want out.

          1. I would not buy any more.
          2. Pay off what I owe Bluegreen if anything. Just get off their books
          3. Advertise that you'll give it away
          4. You may even offer to pay the $250 transfer fee.

With such a small package I imagine that is going to be your fastest way out. Find someone who is using their Bg and give it to them.

I could advertise it on my website for free if you like or you could offer it up on Bluegreen exchange yahoo group. You may find someone willing to take it.

The BEST thing though is that you learn to use it and enjoy it. That way you get something for all the money you spent. But there is little chance you'll find someone willing to purchase it. The closing costs are more than the street resale value. It costs more to close than its resale value.

Sounds like they are doing the same thing Sunterra was in Europe, pushing useless small points packages. That led first to a disgruntled member setting up a website to embarass Sunterra over that, which was www.Sunterror.com. Sunterra settled with them and they took down the website. Then a group of Scots who had been victims of this got together and set up the Scottish Action Group Against Sunterra, with the website of www.sunterrafied.co.uk, and they also had an old ambulance repainted with anti-Sunterra slogans as the Scambulance and used it as the centerpiece to picket Sunterra sales sites. Eventually when DRI bought out Sunterra, they settled with the Scots who then took down their website and parked the Scambulance.

Small points packages are the blue weeks of the points world, and even more useless.

Since the resort in Charleston was largely sold as regular weeks before BG went to points, and BG has not created any new inventory there, it is my understanding that BG has been deeding other resorts elsewhere to Charleston buyers for years, it would seem to me that BG is creating more and more demand for Charleston while supply there remains static. It is clearly cheaper to build new inventory elsewhere but Charleston has good tour flows, so the developer keeps seling there. This lack of balance of supply and demand seems to me to be an inherent problem with points systems.

We have a Bluegreen timeshare of 15,000 annual points (bought back in 2005) and were wondering the best way to sell/find a buyer (at a very deep discount). Is eBay the most reliable? Earlier this week, I was in communication with REMOVED SPAM LINK and they offered to take it off our hands for a fee of $6000 (I pay them). :-(
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Post all the details about here and offer it for free. You might save yourself a few thousand.

If you want rid of it go to this and other bluegreen forums and tell them you want out and will transfer it to them if they will pay the transfer fee. I would imagine with15,000 annual points they would take you up on that fairly quickly.
