  • Just back from The Fountains

We had a wonderful time! We got one of the renovated rooms, I must say, they are nice. I think the kitchen is better than mine!!! Granite, stainless steel GE appliances, hardwood floors. Staff was super.

We did break down and do the owners update. With my wife eying Downtown Disney, and bringing along the 3 grand kids, the 90 minutes for the $80 was a tradeoff I was willing to make. Surprisingly, it was a low pressure sales approach (the dude even claimed to be on an hourly wage, and was not concerned when we kept saying no). When the supervisor came over, he advised her I was looking @ it from a "value" perspective, which must of referred to the comment I made that why should I pay 30K to upgrade to silver..how in the world was that a good choice?

He did try and sell what he was calling RCI Live!, which he claimed was TP3, and I did not have...looked exactly the same as TP2 to me..is there a difference?

One question for the group, like many of my "updates", I get the speech of, did you not get invited to the "Public Offering"?, a dinner meeting where owners were offered great deals ("if you attended, you would of been offered to buy 10K points, ans got 20K free). Seems at every update there is this similar theme of you missed something great, and they go through the process of making you sign something declining this "great deal". Has anyone ever gone to one of these owner meetings..do they exist?

I keep hearing good things about this resort.
I am an owner but have never attended an 'owner update'

Owners updates can be fun or they can be miserable. IT depends on the sales critter and their attitude and also on the owner and their attitude. Some of them see owners who have more than a basic knowledge of bluegreen as a threat. Others find it a good time to chat about things they don't normally get to discuss. That's when it can get fun. But you must remember in the end its their job to sell you something so be kind and let them pitch. Most any one time offer is a sales tactic. The only thing that is true is that Bluegreen is assigning higher and higher points tables to the new resorts. If you expect a week at a new resort you may need to aquire some more points.

We did an owner update in March at The Fountains. We had Wade for our sales guy. That was high pressure. He pulled out his tablet to show us the BXG stock chart and how the stock had been doing so well because of BG being a great company. I informed him that the big jump was the buy out offer and not related to BG being good or bad. A couple weeks later, the company sale went through and Wade couldn't show the stock chart anymore as it was gone.

I have had good updates where the sales people answered questions and others where they were there to sell and sell only.

The Fountains is a wonderful resort. I would go there again, but I have been there 3 times and each one required (by my DW) that I go to Disney and I have no need to go there again. Last time I went to Orlando, I did manage to get a day fishing, but that didn't work well for me.

We go from Minnesota to Orlando in March, so from snow to 80's temp. That makes the trip so enjoyable.

A sales guy named Wade? Wow I've only ever met two other people on the planet named Wade, and you found one that's a sales critter. Small world.

I hope I get him next time, Next time I go to the fountains I should ask for him personally.

And we all know where one of them lives.

              Sorry about the following:

Are you planning on wading in the Fountains?

                You will like this resort.
I really liked it and we were in the old building.
It's definitely on my exchange radar for the future.
I'd even say to stay in the older buildings cause the units are a bit bigger and behind the security gates.

I did the owners update and they had no clue what I own.
They knew I was an owner but the sales staff had no idea what a CMV UDI was.
I asked them how much it would be to convert my red week to points and they didn't even know where to begin.
Of course the manager came over and tried to help her but she was clueless too.
                I ended up educating them.
