From the Bluegreen/RCI portal, when looking at Resort Directory, the Resort Details tab elaborates on which weeks are in which seasons for that resort.
    Ahhhhh, thanks!

Edit. You search for what you want, if it is not available it gives you the option to put in an ongoing search.
So is the 199$ fee needed for this? I found that option, then eventually wanted me to enter some payment info....?

Yes, to enter an ongoing search, you must pay $199. However, you can add a second search and not have to pay again or even a third search. So as long as you have one $199 fee on the books you will be okay for several searches. If you decide to cancel, you will need to ask for a refund to your credit card, they will hold it as a credit otherwise.

This process works well for BG owners because we do not have to have separate deposits of weeks/ TPUs to enter several searches.

I am really an RCI newbie...so please forgive the questions..

does this fee translate into your exchange fee if a search finds something, and you decide to get it?

Yes, I believe so. Kinda like prepaying the exchange fee.

This doesn't line up with the many 8,000 points dvc 1 bedrooms and 11,000 dvc 2 bedrooms I've seen.

Or why 2 BRs are 18000 points in August, and then 11000 points in September. And TPU prices change as well, so RCI doesn't ever treat January 5-December 31st as one season best I can tell. Which makes me wonder why they list it at all! I shall resist going off on a a JLB-style RCI rant.

It has been my experience that different times have different point requirements. As for the August September differences, it has to do with kids vacations and back to school time for sure.

Oh, most certainly. But in the BG system, different points prices mean different seasons. RCI lists nearly the entire year as "red season" for DVC, but the points price varies considerable (as do the TPUs).

Having done a successful trade into Disney for Oct 2011, just before BG changed to the current approach, here is the advice I will give...

DVC members can book their home resort at 11 months out. They can book at other DVC resorts at 7 months out. If you know when you want to go, look really actively around these windows 7 or 11 months before your anticipated visit. It can take a couple weeks to process the deposits before they are visible, and if I remember correctly the DVC listings tend to appear on Tuesdays. The ongoing search will automatically match a deposit to your request and hold it for a short time (a day or 2) or until you release it if it is not what you wanted. This is really advantageous for high-demand locations like Disney so you minimize the risk of missing something just because you looked away for a little while.

If you want to do the dining plan, you can take your pick of the plans offered, but as someone already noted, they are not discounted.

If you plan to eat at most any of the table service restaurants that require reservations, or for character dining, you can make dinner reservations starting 6 months before your check-in date. At certain high demand times or locations, the reservation board will fill up fast.

I'll also add a reference to an online community I like for all things Disney, and that is www.intercot.com
