  • What is your favorite Bluegreen Resort and why?

Just curious what your favorite Bluegreen resort is and why?

I've been to a few myself and so far I've got a few favorites.

Of course I'm pretty easy to please but really enjoyed:

The Hershey resort. Loved the area and the units are nice with a split plan and convenient location to all Hershey attractions.

The Oasis Lakes at the Fountains was an awesome stay too. Great location on I-Drive and really nice high end finished in the room.
Almost made me want to cook in that nice chef's kitchen.

The there is Solara Surfside which is a great beach resort right here in my backyard. Lovely breeze, staff and rooms.

I visited the Big Cedar and the grounds were fabulous but didn't officially stay there, just had lunch at the restaurant.

    So how about you?

I've only been to Boyne, and Orlando's Sunshine. Part of the challenge is that they do not over 1 night stays, and often we are just passing through an area. I would like to do a week long trip to Tennesse where we maybe do 3 or 4 nights in one and 3 or 4 nights in the other. Same with a couple of other states. I do like the Boyne area though, but find the resort itself to be somewhat lacking. The 1 bedrooms are way to small, and lack the oven that we have come to expect for lasagna and pizza!

Since I am also an owner of a CMV unit, and it is only a 10 hour drive we are thinking that we should get there sooner or later. I know they are not the nicest, and I am not even going to experience the timber units which are supposedly remarkably better. However, none of the people who have rented from me have complained. It would be able to make comments, or answer questions and sound like I know what I am talking about.

If we can work something out, we have thought about staying at the resort in Savanah Georgia on the way down, but again they require two night's so awfully expensive. There is a resort in SC that is the ONLY one to allow one night stays so we are also considering staying there. So many places, so little time.

      I've only been to three...

Club La Pension...great location in the French Quarter, recently renovated with funky, eclectic decor that I doubt you'll see anywhere else. My favorite so far.

      Suites at Hershey... location

Shore Crest I... I'm a beach lover and love oceanfront balconies.

We like Suites at Hershey, too. We've also stayed at CMV and liked it, although not as much as Hershey--Hershey's location is great. Next year we'll be going to Patrick Henry in Williamsburg. Looking forward to that, especially because of the amazing location.

Looks like Hershey is a hit!
          Who doesn't like chocolate.

I forgot one also that was a very nice stay and that was Grande Villas at World Golf Village in St. Augustine.
It's not on the beach but we were there during July 4th and they did a spectacular fireworks display
for the community and also had a free BBQ. They had so much left over that they gave us extra
to take "home" to our unit and my niece was happy to have hamburgers for breakfast.

I don't play golf but the pool is fabulous in this resort and they also have some sort of arrangement
with an upscale beach club where you get a free pass for the day which was nice.

Back in the Ole Days, when I was the Branson Guy on a certain other website, took people for rides on the XXXBoat, and so forth, I was sitting on the Terrace at Devil's Pool Restaurant at Big Cedar Lodge, having lunch with a nice young couple from St. Louis, new Wilderness Club owners.

Along about dessert, the guy asked me, "What can we expect when we go on exchanges?"

I quickly summoned up visions of the 80 or so resorts we had stayed at up until then, and said, "None will be better than this."
            - - - - - -
Thinking back on it, they, nor anyone back then, ever thought they would never have a need or use for their timeshares, but would be stuck paying for them any way.

            It just never came up.

So many great experiences at Bluegreen Resorts.

We love Shenandoah Crossings. Each time we stay in a different type of unit as there are some unique ones - yurts, RVs, cabins, town homes, etc. And, so much to do at the resort - we particularly love the horses, turkeys, and farm animals, mini golf, and being in the shadow of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

We love Hammocks at Marathon for a quick laid back weekend get away.

The Gulf Coast resort we stayed at in Bradenton (name escapes me) reminded me of my beach vacations when I was a kid - low rise beach resorts on a beautiful stretch of beach.

And, the three boutique City Resorts we stayed at - La Pension, Lodge Alley Inn, and Studio Homes were in great locations for getting out and exploring.

Many of the other Florida resorts we stayed at have been mentioned - such as Orlando and Miami. But, we have had great times too in Williamsburg, Tennessee, Arizona, and Las Vegas. Arizona has done a lot to their property since we were there last time - and we love the horse back riding there too.

We hope to get to Branson, Atlantic City, and St. Pete soon - not to mention Hawaii!

One I forgot to mention was Seaglass Towers in Myrtle Beach. If you are afraid of heights you might not like it - but the units have great floor to ceiling windows and lying in the bed we could see the whole strip. Great location too. Hilton Head, SC is on our list next.

I purchased BG specifically to access La Cabana Aruba. I had exchangedinto a unit for my son in 2005 and it was very rundown. Since Bluegreen has taken over the management, It has been fully renovated with new kitchens and baths and is just a really nice resort on a beautiful beach. The studio units are over 500 square feet with a full kitchen, spacious and roomy. Well priced bar and food service, not fancy but good. On site casino was constructed and is now open.

LOVE Solara Surfside. Beautiful beach, gorgeous units, minutes from the scene in South Beach. Can't wait to go back.

Visited the Atlantic City NJ - Bluegreen at Atlantic Palace. Well located on the boardwalk (right near the Wyndham Skyline Tower) and the renovated rooms are 'standard' but spacious with spectacular ocean views. The lobby has not been renovated yet. I was staying at the Wyndham and the rooms were nicer there plus they had a very nice lobby. I feel that Atlantic Palace will be nice once they are further along in the renovation process.

Looking forward to visiting Marathon, New Orleans, Savanah and many more in the future.

I am not a Bluegreen owner but do own 3 weeks at La Cabana in Aruba that we bought after the rooms were renovated (re-sale of course) and love both Aruba and La Cabana.

Solara also looks like a nice resort and although I am sure Hershey resort is nice I did stay at the Hershey hotel and once is enough for me.

I have stayed at The Atlantic city palace but in a non Blue green unit that was gross. Although the boardwalk location is great I thought the feel of the palace was very sleazy and would not stay there again untill it is totally gutted and newly renovated.

Well that is definitely one of the pluses for exchanging thru a mini system as opposed to the big 2.

Minis provide a superior exchange experience and take the gamble out of exchanging. Of course it does come at a price premium compared to exchanging but some of think its worth it.

                        Wow!!
                        Someone has been busy vacationing.

I guess you have more than one favorite resort.
That is the beauty of a mini like bluegreen.
You cant decide which of your club resorts is your very favorite because quality standards make for lots of great vacation experiences and internal exchanges.
                        keep on traveling.

I think this is a total plus for bluegreen club.
they build or take over resorts in unique places along with the popular places making the club a one stop shop ownership experience. They seem to look for the diamonds in the rough.

I am not a BG points owner either but do own a multi week ownership with them.

I have done several direct owner to owner exchanges and ebay rentals at BG resorts over the years. So far only one disappointing BG stay in more than 10 years. Then again I am usually easy to please.

I am not a bg owner, but the dil of one .

Hershey! My first experience with timeshares and I loved it! I love the location - near Amish country, near Wilbur Buds company, near my dh's favorite Lebanon Bologna company, near Hershey's Chocolate World, and as a bonus near Hershey Park. I loved that the timeshares provided a vacuum and broom so you can clean up messes from your little one's when needed. I loved having a washer/dryer if the unexpected occurs. With a large family, timeshares are definitely nicer than 2 bedrooms. That was when I decided we will rent a timeshare from then on, rather than pay for 2 hotel rooms. (Notice I said rent and not buy )

We only stayed in two other timeshares - 1. The Fountains - was very impressed with the size of the room and the view off the balcony (of the lake), but not happy about several other things, mainly cleanliness; and 2. Parkside at Williamsburg - loved the location (close to Busch Gardens and Colonial Williamsburg), but not impressed with the "combined 2 bedroom" which was really 2 separate 1 bedrooms not connected, nor our rooms need for renovation. Maybe it's because of the HA room we got (but didn't need).
