  • Free vacation for bluegreen owners

We received a phone call from a person who said they worked with BlueGreen resorts. They said that when Bluegreen receives cancellations, they like to pass those openings on to their current owners. She gave my husband a list of resorts we could use and told him we needed to let them know soon which one we wanted to use.

My husband said he kept waiting to hear 'the catch', but she never said we had to pay extra or use any of our points, or even sit through another pitch. She gave him a name and number for her supposed supervisor.

Has anyone else ever been contacted like this? Does anyone know if this is a legitimate practice of Bluegreen? We're supposed to call back on Monday, but I don't want to be wrangled into something we don't want any part of.

    Thanks!

I don't buy it and I suspect you don't either. Companies are not in the habit of giving away something for nothing. When are these cancellations for and why would they not use one of their other avenues to generate some sort of revenue from this now vacant unit. That is what they are calling you for. Go with your gut feeling, and respectfully decline their invitation stating that you are not interested in any extra vacations. You have all the vacation time you need.

Yes, I was planning on calling Bluegreen tomorrow to ask if it was them. It doesn't make sense that they would just give the reservations away without us having to pay or go to another talk. Thanks for the input!

It sounds like a sales tactic.

be sure to note the phone number and name of the caller. I would be inclined to play along long enough to have plenty of info for BG to pursue.

No, there is no free lunch, and in over a decade of ownership, there have Never been cancellations offered to me.

the only reason it doesn't sound that way to me is that they work out of specific resorts. no way I would call up a mark to let em have choice of location, it would be My Location or nothing.
