I'm interested that you put Big Cedar number 1 at the top of your list. I remember when you stayed at Hyatt's Coconut Plantation in Florida and really liked that as well. Where would the Hyatt rank on your list now?

It's dropped down on the list. This is NUMBER 1. I'm going to book a bunch of weeks here and do direct exchanges with people. I've already got one request that I am going to accept.

      Boca,

I think you are going to have people lined up to do direct exchanges with you. What's your price?

I will probably want to get in line too.

LOL. What do you have to offer? A 2 bedroom cabin is 18,000 BG points. A 3 bedroom is 25,000 points in the summer.

I was checking BG's webiste numerous times throughout the day and couldn't believe it when I found it. It was fantastic and we could see the fireworks display right from the deck! It was awsome!

Don't you love the cookies they bring to you at night? Out kids couldn't wait to see the cookie lady come around! What a treat!
          Chris,

The cookies are GREAT. I ate about 6 of them yesterday. I am getting fat on this trip.

To answer a hanging question, Big Cedar is in South Central Missouri, cozying up to Arkansas. It has a Ridgedale mailing address, which is probably not on the map.

BC is off of 86 HWY, which is 12 miles south of the 76 HWY (The Strip) exit in Branson. It is on the Long Creek Arm of Table Rock Lake, which continues on into Arkansas.

Julle (Jens) from another timeshare forum lives on the lake around the 86 HWY bridge.

Talk about two ships passing in the night and not seeing each other, when we bugged out Friday morning, that's the way we went, 86 HWY, to go to the Corps office, so we were that close to Mr. Bum!

I didn't mention it, but when I had jury duty in Springfield last month, the Aunt and Uncle of one of the ladies in the jury pool owned Big Cedar before Bass Pro Johnny Morris bought it from them. They had bought it from the magnate that built it for his wife (Dorothy), and they had operated it as the Devils Pool Resort (I think).

That ladies' grandfather owned the farm that is now the intersection of HWY 65 and HWY 76, where it all begins in Branson, in either direction. She had a lot of stories.

Thanks JLB so now I have an idea and can look at the most likely route Jim is taking to Southern CA unless he makes a detour to do more sight-seeing yet.

What a pity you missed each other when you were so close.

Yeah I feel really bad that we missed each other. When I sense him nearby this morning, I was right because he was still here. He did not call because he knew we got in late. Actually I did not get to sleep until 5:00 this morning.

About his route, it is like a dream route for us, not that his stop tonight in Salin, KS is that whoopy. But the next stop will be three days at the WorldMark in Estes Park. Wow! Wish we could be there for that.

It's almost 8:00 PM and still in the mid 90's, so we're heading down for a swim.

Yep, I really wanted to meet JLB. I was disappointed that we missed each other. Oh well, such is life. I'll be back.

Yesterday, we checked out of our 3 bedroom cabin and left our bags in the foyer for the housekeeping staff to move our bags to our 2 bedroom cabin. It only took a couple hours for them to do that, so moving rooms was no big deal.

During that time, we got food at Truman's smokehouse for eating on the Pontoon boat that we rented. We got BBQ beef brisquet sandwiches, macaroni and cheeze and chili to go with the drinks we brought along for the boat ride.

We did some shopping in the Lodge store and the boys spent time playing with the Lincoln log set in the Lodge lobby while I went around taking pictures of Big Cedar. I've got a ton of pictures and the good news is that now that I am in Salina, I have high speed internet access. So, I'll upload them.

We spend 3 hours on Table Rock Lake and had a blast. The boys loved swimming in the lake and the water temperature was perfect. We are used to fresh water swimming. I always loved it as a kid because when you got out and dried off, you were nice a refreshed as opposed when you go into the ocean coming out salty.

We took the boat up near Branson and checked out the dam and went back south toward the Arkansas border. It was great having lunch on the boat with cold drinks and swimming whenever we got hot. My boys wanted to go fishing, but we didn't really have time for that. It also gives us another reason to come back.

There is a lot of stuff that is included free in your stay at the Wilderness Club.

Here is a partial listing from the top of my memory:

Free wood for burning. Free tubes for the lazy river. Free canoes and paddle boats. Free cookies delivered to your room every night. Free drinks and snacks included in your cabin at check in. Free DVD movies. Free internet access in the clubhouse area.

The 18 foot pontoon boat was $40 / hour plus gas. Great fun and worth it. We also bought a couple of Big Cedar shirts to go with our Orange Lake hats.

I am so glad we came here. It truly was a fabulous experience.

Okay, now what you've been waiting for..... The pictures.....

NOTE: I moved each of the pictures to its own thread since it was taking so long for the pictures to load.

They are in the main forum, but can be found here:

Jim, the pictures of the area are great. The timeshare resort is nice too but I wouldn't care less how big or how fancy the resort is so long it is clean and service is good and friendly when you are in such beautiful surroundings. They seem to have it all! I love these trees and lakes.

There is so much to see in other states of this country besides the west coast and Hawaii.
