Since all of you have so much more experience, what is the best way to rent your bluegreen timeshare? I am going to guess that going through bluegreen is not the ideal way. Any ideas and help would be most appreciated!

Cathy,
The best way is to pick a really good week and put it up for rent on one of the popular rental sites like Redweek, Myresortnetwork or vacationtimesharerentals.
Once you do it for a while, you figure out which resorts are the best renters.
I am going to guess that going through bluegreen is not the ideal way.
Nope, going through Bluegreen is most definitely NOT recommended! I've tried it -- at the time, I was crazy swamped with work -- and got nothing. Others have tried as well, with very desirable locations and dates, and got nothing... Bluegreen's first priority is to rent out their own inventory, then they work on yours.
I would not recommed booking a specific week at a specific resort at specific time because 85-90 percent of the time you will not rent your time. How many points are willing to rent. Usually 1b/1b =$1800 neg for the week that would be about 6000-----7000 points depending on resort and time frame
I've made enough to pay my maintenance fees for a number of years. Renting is a personal choice and depends on how many points you have and what your needs/priorities are.
As for renting through Bluegreen, they do not offer the service anymore. They have a list of sites you can use listed on their webpage. The one listed above is one of them.
Boca is someone who can be trusted and the service offered on his site is excellent. They even remind you about two weeks out if your week hasn't successfully rented that you can cancel and still get your points back from Bluegreen.

Noting your srceen name, are you employed selling and renting of timeshares?
Is your advice on rentals based on your rental experiance?
If so, how many Bluegreen related reservations did you rent out last year?

This is what i do I rent and sell timeshares! Bluegreen does not want owners to rent or sell your timeshare because you are an owner. They want to sale to a new owner

Are you saying you get 3 cents per BG Point on most of your rentals if I am understanding your earlier post correctly? So you get a average rental amount of $2,700 for 9,000 GB Points ?
Those figures sound absurb to say the least. They sound like something a Mayan Palace developer salesman might pitch to someone that is gullable in order to get them to buy for the false rental profits.
IMHO I disagree with Quote "because 85-90 percent of the time you will not rent your time." Unquote. I have found that doing about 100 or more yearly rentals with most of them being BG rentals we are far better off to reserve hing demand prime weeks as they rent so much better than the low puny 5% to 10% sucess rate you stated in your posting.
Even the Bluegreen last mintue CMV UDI 45 dayers used for rentals if priced right have a far higher sucess rate than puny 5% or 10% sucess rate.

Bruce--that would be $270..........I think he is trying to say that you can rent a 1 bedroom for $.30 per point not three cents per point............but I certainly didn't understand what timeshareseller was getting at either.........................I went back and re-read it and got a bit more out of it to add the previous note about thirty cents per point.
Well, that's for darn sure that you are going to have difficulty renting out a owner chosen date if you plan on getting $.30 per point in rent back on it from the renter.

At $270 for a rental using 9,000 BG Points the owner would in most cases would lose money so Susan, you are correct that he states 30 cents a point which is about triple the average rental price for high demand time as reported here and other timeshare sites.
We both know that Bluegreen likes owners to rent out their units and that is why they give owners credits $50 and up towards their maintenance fees if a renter does a presentation. It is very simple math, if BG did not want BG owners to rent out their units they certainly would not give owners credits towards their maintenance fees.
