  • A couple of BG questions...

Kudos to this site! We recently took a trip to Branson and ended up buying 8K pts at Big Cedar for 15K. Luckily, I found this site a few days later and we sent our letter to rescind within the 5 days required. Hopefully that all works out without any trouble. Anyway, we are looking at resales now. My wife is a teacher, so we will mostly only be able to vacation June thru early Aug. My thought was to buy 7-9K pts that we could use for partial weeks at CMV and BC as they are both within a days drive. If we could avoid the weekends, this should give us enough points to do this a couple of times each summer and possibly a 4 dayer during the school year. Having this flexabilty is part of the draw for us.

Is it possible to get partial weeks during the summer at these 2 resorts or do you have to be very lucky to make it happen? We are a family of 5, so a 1 BR would work, but a 2 BR would be better. Also,If you book a full week, how flexible are they on check in times. We would like to got to Florida every couple of years, but I worry about not getting there until very late on Sunday (I hate flying). Thanks in advance for any answers

I think you have a good strategy. Using your points for midweek stays is a good way to save on points. And, midweek tends to have more availability than weekends.

I would ask Brucecz to comment on availability at Christmas Mountain Village.

I'm not sure about Big Cedar availability. But I do know that I was able to see August availability in Cabins at Big Cedar in April. Since that was less than 5 months from check in, you could book partial week stays.

People do cancel, so if you get a "sorry, it's full" you can keep calling to check if it's something you really want.

I would call the resort in advance to see how a very late arrival would be handled. Front desk could be closed but there could be an existing process that a specific resort employs.

An example for me was with Bonus Time. I called last Tuesday for Mountain Run at Boyne at 4:45 pm and they didn't have what I wanted. Wanted 1 BR Fri/Sat and only had Th/Fri. I booked it because I for sure needed Friday night. I called back 2 1/2 hours later to check if they happened to have Boyne Hemlock availability and now they had Fri/Sat open for Mountain Run. I was lucky and the CS woman was very willing to work with me and didn't charge me the normal 1-night fee for cancelling within 72 hours of check-in. Also, neither time I called did the computer show availability for bonus time.

That's just how quick it can change!

Thanks for replying! Hopefully we will be owners soon and actually be able to make our "plan" work

Since you want to travel in summer, buy sept anniv date if you can, so all your points will be current next summer. CMV does not require high red, but BC and most other resorts do in summer.
